A Spanish court has acquitted a man who raped a 12-year-old girl after it ruled that their relations were just a part of the Romani culture.
On Tuesday, the court in Ciudad Real in central Spain took into account the socio-cultural context of the Gypsy ethnic group to reduce the sentence for sexual assault and abuse of a minor by a 20-year old man.
This resulted in the perpetrator, who left his 12-year-old victim pregnant with twins, being acquitted.

Yep- theft, murder, rape, enslavement, dishonesty and destruction are all part of their culture.
Old rule: Immigrant adapts to the country.
New rule: Country adapts to the immigrant.
The new rule will of course destroy the country. But it also makes stupid woke people feel good. So I guess it all evens out (not).
The ruling held that the relationship was 'always consensual within the frame-work of a romantic relationship', adding that the two were 'close in age and maturity.'
British Governor Charles Napier wanted to ban the practice of "suttee" which involved a widow being burned to death on her husband's funeral pyre. The Indians insisted that this practice was part of their culture. Napier responded:
"Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs!"

Gypsies (gitanos or calos in Spain) have been in Spain since 1415 (Precisely. The Spanish write down everything) - they are, in Aragon at least, there by the invitation of King Alfonso V.
I don’t know when a royal personage finally regretted the invitation. No doubt some king or other eventually did.
As for the age of consent and such, this argument is not a novelty but a throwback. It really is the way things were, and not just among gypsies. Its a very strange argument to make before a modern court.
And none of that is new.
Gypsies have been in Spain since the middle ages. And being annoying the whole time. They are often quite amusing too, which excuses a lot. Up to a point.
Gypsies were “immigrants” in Spain as of, oh, 600 years ago.
No, they mostly didn’t really “integrate” in all those centuries. There has however been a cross-cultural influence that goes deep.
Gypsies are pretty well built in to Spanish culture, if only as a “counterculture” with which the majority has a love/hate relationship.

Thanks. Good point. I don’t know much about Spanish gypsies. But I do know a little about Hungarian gypsies. They’ve been around for a long while. And morally, they march to the beat of a different drummer (to put it mildly).

This has been going on forever. Doesn’t discriminate for color, national origins or religion. There are sick people who out there.
