Western countries should let Ukraine strike military bases inside Russia with the sophisticated long-range weapons they are providing to Kyiv, French President Emmanuel Macron said, pressuring his allies in the most recent sign of a potentially significant policy shift that could help change the complexion of the war.
The question of whether to allow Ukraine to hit targets on Russian soil with Western-supplied weaponry has been a delicate issue since the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of its neighbor in February 2022.
Western leaders have mostly shrunk from taking the step because it runs the risk of provoking Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has repeatedly warned that the West's direct involvement could put the world on a path to nuclear conflict.
His remarks came a day after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg urged the alliance’s members to lift some of the restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western weapons.

Macron must realize that this opens up France to be targeted as well. Russia will not stand by and allow France to use Ukraine as a proxy to attack the Motherland.

Putting aside spectacle and just examining credible scenarios, the most obvious one would be the same imaginary ISIS K group provided with Russian missiles with big payloads on a ship off the France Atlantic coast.
Fire and hit some military target near an Olympic venue, kill 100s and have some website contact the media and take ISIS K credit.
And that would be that for hitting Russian targets.
I have read reports that the Russians have amassed another 300,000 troops on the Ukrainian Border with Belarus.
I have no idea what the Russian strategy might be, if they get close enough to Kiev and Kharkiev to start artillery barrages, this could force a settlement, who knows, if in fact Russia has another 300,000 troops to throw into the war, this is going to make the Ukrainian situation much more difficult.
With the art of diplomacy non-existent among a failed political class, some see the complete destruction of the West as a viable solution.
The Russia-Ukraine war is an abomination, as are the psychopaths who promote more insanity in continuing the war over negotiating peace.

Poland has already committed troops to Ukraine should Belarus become a combatant. Allowing attacks from their country makes them an enemy combatant.

The longer this war goes on the more unpredictable it becomes.
I have no idea if Russia has 300,000 more troops to throw into this war and even if they do, I have no idea where or if they would come across a border into Ukraine.
If 300,000 troops do come across the border and are properly equipped and trained, it won’t be good for Ukraine considering their biggest issue is manpower, any new offensive by Russia will do nothing but continue to stretch out the Ukrainian forces.
Macron is the mouthy girlfriend who expects her boyfriend to fight for her.
