Thank heavens it wasn't raining last Tuesday morning, as it can do in late autumn in South Africa. It would have meant a drenching for the most unusual politician fighting today's election — a 32-year-old farmer's son called Chris Pappas, who is white and gay.
Peering through owlish glasses, he was giving a campaign speech to 70 locals in their decaying village hall, a half-day's drive inland from the coastal city of Durban in the sprawling province of KwaZulu-Natal.
The building had gaping holes in the tin roof through which you could see the sky. In every window the glass was shattered, and an entire wall was missing, affording a huge vista of stupendous landscape.

I'm of the firm opinion that SA is headed for a destiny that would make Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo look like paradise by comparison. I do hope I'm wrong however.
One-party rule (by anyone) almost always leads to corruption, oppression, and violence. True in the old Soviet Union. True in South Africa today.
And true in the United States if the Democrats can cheat their way into a permanent majority.
South Africa could’ve been great.
I spoke to a SA white citizen 30 years ago. He said, “I don’t know where our country will go”.
Having already expressed a negative future for SA, I answered, “I do”.
Remember the roll liberals had in the total destruction of South Africa and Rhodesia. Libs want to do the same to the USA.
Sadly no lessons will be learned from this. They will double-down and increase their efforts to make this happen in every country. It's happening in Ireland and Canada.
South Africa faces a defining moment.Crucially, the ANC is being rejected by young blacks — the so-called Born Free generation who cannot remember apartheid — as they rebel against the only government they have ever known....Political pollsters say the ANC, led by ageing black veterans of the apartheid struggle, may be forced into a coalition with the country's third biggest party, the Marxist-Leninist Economic Freedom Fighters.

The EFF is headed by a race-baiting, nationalist fire-brand, Julius Malema, who was raised by a single mother in a black township....Malema's party insists apartheid did not end in 1994. It preaches that Mandela handed power to 'white capitalists' who still exist and must be destroyed....The terrifying truth is that Malema's EFF is winning the hearts and minds of disappointed young voters who feel the ANC has left them jobless
and in poverty....
Meanwhile, Chris Pappas of the Democratic Alliance is fighting his corner hard.
How could they not fall in love with Winnie Mandela’s midnight tire necklaces? Those ingrates just don’t appreciate a good dictator when one emerges.
And when governments murder their own citizens, the people are too stupid to understand it’s for their own good.
Is Charlize Theron available for comment? Mushbrained Holliwierd leftist whom thought Mandela was the second coming. Yeah, of Stalin maybe. She should migrate back to her homeland and have a good taste of S.A. life from inside her concrete barbed wire compound. Pewtrid clown.
.
This great “hero” Mandela, what did he and his wife do for SA? Absolutely nothing except turn the country into a cesspool of corruption and violence. This particular country, a failed nation state has brought charges of “genocide” against the Democratic state of Israel?? What a farce.
Elections bought by Euro Elites. It’s so cute how they think they get to choose their leaders.
Given how they control the bureaucracy, the Democrats essentially are the only Party now, no matter who is President.
What a surprise: Communism isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
So, for South Africa, it’s either the Flaming Queer or the Flaming Communist. Sounds like the US if Trump wasn’t running.
I read a well researched article years ago that said South Africa is Obamas model for America.
