Yet another Republican U.S. senator has caught former President Donald Trump's eye as he searches for a ticketmate to replace former Vice President Mike Pence.
The New York Times reported Friday that Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has jumped to the top of Trump's list.
The 47-year-old Arkansas Republican was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
The pick of Cotton would be unexpected because it would be bland.
Cotton joins other veepstakes contenders from the upper chamber including Sens. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and J.D. Vance.
The presumptive Republican nominee is also considering North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who he brought to his recent mega-rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
..
During an interview Thursday with News 12 Trump declined to name his top three VP picks.
'Well, we have so many, I don't want to do that,' the ex-president said after his rally in the Bronx.
Trump then commended Dr. Ben Carson, his former HUD secretary, Rubio, Vance and Rep. Elise Stefanik.
The ex-president said he would announce his choice 'sometime during the convention.'
The Republican National Convention is scheduled for mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump also has a number of former 2024 rivals at his disposal.
His chief rival, former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, finally said this week that she would vote for Trump in the November election.
Trump supporters interviewed by DailyMail.com in New Jersey liked the idea of the ex-president picking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another chief challenger.
DeSantis said months ago he wouldn't take the promotion - though more recently has started fundraising for Trump.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is also a favorite with the MAGA crowd - and at 38-years-old would bring youth to the ticket.

Trump’s anti-assassination protection needs to rely heavily on who his VP is.
He’s pretty hawkish as in neocon, IMO.
J.D. Vance or Tom Cotton both a good choice both have TNSL (take no shit leadership).
100% cotton cloth?
Yes he is. Right after Trump was elected, Cotton flew to that island off the east coast and met with all the deep state officials on how they would deal with a Trump presidency. All the anti-Trump RINOs were there.
Sounds good to me not unexpected
WTF? That moron voted to accept Biden's fraudulent electors.
"Cotton, a supporter of President Donald Trump, said not counting the electoral votes would 'take away the power to choose the president from the people and establish unwise precedents.' "
How about taking away the power of the fraudsters to steal elections you dimwit?
He also said he "supported" a commission to study the 2020 election. Which of course never happened. His support for that is about as good as a pair of worn-out suspenders.
I don't know if I could vote for this a$$hat. I will never forgive or forget any of the Repukes who accepted Biden's electors.
Agree but for other reasons I just posted here. Since you mentioned his being part of the Neocon war machine, I wouldn’t vote for him because of that either.
Yeah, so he can vote again to accept fraudulent RAT electors.
Vance served in the Marines and is not a neocon.
Gabbard is a rabid leftist, she’s not to be trusted.
The problem is, if his VP pick is too perfect then they'd need to make sure by hook or by crook that neither one of them gets to the point of taking office.
Hard to know who’s part of the swamp and who isn’t.
I have only one criterion: That the person Trump picks scares Deep State even more than Trump does.
Cotton doesn’t come close.
Billionaires, tech CEOs and top members of the Republican establishment flew to a private island resort off the coast of Georgia this weekend for the American Enterprise Institute's annual World Forum, according to sources familiar with the secretive gathering.
The main topic at the closed-to-the-press confab? How to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump. (The meeting was not planned to be a strategy session on how to stop the GOP front-runner, but rather evolved into one, as a subsequently obtained agenda makes clear.)
Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google co-founder Larry Page, Napster creator and Facebook investor Sean Parker, and Tesla Motors and SpaceX honcho Elon Musk all attended. So did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), political guru Karl Rove, House Speaker Paul Ryan, GOP Sens. Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Ben Sasse (Neb.), who recently made news by saying he "cannot support Donald Trump."
Along with Ryan, the House was represented by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton (Mich.), Rep. Kevin Brady (Texas) and almost-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), sources said, along with leadership figure Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.), Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Texas) and Diane Black (Tenn.).

I believe the most important qualification will be someone that could carry on the Trump standard in 2028.
No on Cotton.
Cotton??? Nope, I’ll pass.
Happy to hear that. Vivek is a curry eating Wog who shouldn’t be leading a western country.
Every week the media comes up with another name that they are sure has moved to the top of the VP list. I think we have gone through about a half of dozen now just over the past two months. None of these people who claim to be “familiar with Trump’s thinking” have a clue as to who he is considering.
