No accident close by. It seems like they’re always working on the tracks in this area and I figure that’s what they’re doing now. A problem was probably reported, the trains that were already enroute were told to creep through this area, and once all of those had gone through, they shut the rails down so they can be worked on overnight. Not the first time and won’t be the last.
There was a derailment a few years ago right before the tracks cross the road I live on. We’d just had a strong storm blow through late one night and a tree fell across the tracks. A train came through and the two engines and a couple of cars were knocked off the tracks. Hubby hopped in the car to find out what we’d heard and wasn’t gone but a minute. He came back in and said, “You aren’t going to believe this!”

I definitely have the fatigue. LOL And we have several days ahead of this crummy weather. It hasn’t been quite as bad over here as it has over there but it’s been plenty stormy. No tornados today but there was a lot of wind damage and flooding north and west of here.

What a crazy thing to have happened. I hope no one working on the train was injured in the derailment.
We just have idiots who think they can beat the train and get smushed trying to do so while crossing the track when the crossing lights and bells are sounding. Thinning the herd.

We never heard anything about injuries so I guess there was nothing more than some bruises. The train must not have been going too fast since only the four cars derailed. There was a derailment between here and Tullahoma 5 years ago and several cars derailed.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had an idiot trying to beat a train at a crossing, fortunately, but it’s happened here.

Up to 4 miles a day, and Blue ACED her Safety Inspection.
She’s leaking a little oil, but I think she’s just marking her spot. LOL.
Gotta replace the top gaskets. They are made of cork, so they don’t last forever.
