Thirteen fed-up counties in liberal Oregon have voted in support of measures to start negotiations to secede from the state and join conservative Idaho.
Crook County became the latest to approve the 'Greater Idaho Measure' following a vote on Tuesday.
The proposal seeks to move the Oregon border 200 miles to the west, meaning that 14 counties and several partial counties would fall under Idaho state lines.
Organizers behind the Greater Idaho movement say east Oregonians are being alienated by the state's progressive policies which they blame for high crime rates.
They claim a move to Idaho would allow residents to take advantage of lower taxation and provide better representation and governance.
'The Oregon/Idaho line was established 163 years ago and is now outdated,' the movement's website states.
'It makes no sense in its current location because it doesn't match the location of the cultural divide in Oregon.
'We want an economy that is not held back by Oregon regulations and taxes, including environmental regulations.
'We’ll still have federal and Idaho regulations, and that’s plenty. Idaho knows how to respect rural counties and their livelihoods.'
Measure 7-86, as it was known, passed by 53 percent in Crook County in the latest boost to the Greater Idaho campaign.
However, the vote is not legislatively binding and just means residents are in favor of informing state and federal representatives that they support negotiations to annex part of Oregon.

Why does the map of Greater Idaho look like somebody giving the finger?
I would like to see a version of this in NY State.
Kick out about 8 counties of NY city and suburbs.
I’d love to secede from Crook county Illinois
I’m pretty sure that to make this happen both state legislatures would have to agree to it.. so any individual county votes are just symbolic.
Let’s make secession a national issue.
All the red areas, even if surrounded by blue areas, should be given the choice to secede. Chances are that, even the blue areas would opt to become red areas, as they wouldn’t be able to support their own idiotic progressive policies.
Not only the state legislature, but also Congress.
Nope. Congress got nothin’ to do with it. They aren’t trying to form a new state. Make sense?
Nearly every state in the union would be free if they left the major cities. Oregon is run by Portland. Washington is run by Seattle. Montana (God help us) is run by californicators in Whitefish and Missoula. Pick just about any state and it is the same. One or two s hole cities control the rest of a conservative population.
New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.
The United States has always supported self-determination.
Except in the United States.
This has been going on for a while
Awesome…needs to happen country wide…💯💯💯
There is a book I read American Secession. Inadequate but covers good ground.
His boring book covers the main problems of secession:
Who will be forced to pay for the military protection in the defense budget, who will pay part of the national debt, which federal laws apply and do not apply and so on.
One good point of his: people are getting increasingly hateful against each other and no one wants to be near the people they hate the most.
He said as the book came out in January, 2020:
we should invest in UHaul style moving truck companies because people will soon move from one political majority state to another if there is not an outright civil war.
That has come true and is increasing.
He is not related to the better people William F. and James Buckley.
Finally, the Supreme Court might revisit its denial of a right of secession. The originalists on the Court would recognize that the Framers had thought that states had the right to secede, while the more politically minded members of the Court might hesitate before ruling secession illegal and permitting the president to make war against a state
I know. Which is why I said all this is symbolism.
Give Conservative Oregonians a place to escape.
I wish them a speedy success. Then do the same thing in CA, IL, NY, and other shathole leftist states. Let the cities they destroyed implode.
“Not only the state legislature, but also Congress.”

Likely insurmountable political hurdles unfortunately.
Redress of grievances has always been problematic.
You can come in, but you can’t get out.
“Then do the same thing in CA, IL, NY, and other shathole leftist states. Let the cities they destroyed implode.”

The Leftists will just take tax money from the conservative areas and funnel it into the cities to keep the cesspools afloat. The Left never pays for anything.
Thinking Boise is pretty woke. And more wokenistas moving there to escape the wildness they were in. ‘Ya know, we didn’t do it like that back in xxx.’
