“He’s doomed to not be loved!”
Never was there a more clear-cut case of “commentator’s curse” than when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was inaugurated on a sunny Kyiv day exactly five years ago.
The TV narrator’s inference was that, after a landslide election victory with 73% of the vote, it could only go downhill for him.
While his approval ratings have inevitably waned, Volodymyr Zelensky has been able to use his enduring appeal, along with a desire for stability, to extend his term in office.
In peacetime it would have expired, and an election would have been called. But the martial law brought in with Russia’s full-scale invasion means that can’t happen, and there’s broad public support for that too.
“For the Ukrainians, the priority is to win the war and then have an election,” explains Anton Hrushetskyi, the head of Kyiv’s International Institute of Sociology.
“Therefore, they don’t question the legitimacy of Zelensky.”
Moscow, unsurprisingly, has done just that. But it would also jump on a mid-war election where Ukraine’s wartime leader would be heavily scrutinised.
“We see these narratives from Russia and how it tries to impose on Western minds the thought that Ukraine is not a democracy,” explains Anton.

Exactly, he would be lucky if 53% of voters wanted him to continue.
Didn't know that was a thing. Sort of the deep state replacement for bread and circuses.
Don’t forget he eliminated all opposition parties over the last year or so.
Putin may be evil, but Russia at least has token opposition parties. The corrupt Slavs in Ukraine have none.
If you look at Article 106: 20) adopts a decision in accordance with the law on the general or partial mobilisation and the introduction of martial law in Ukraine or in its particular areas, in the event of a threat of aggression, danger to the state independence of Ukraine
That kind of negates your contention that it remains silent in order that a president can't proclaim Martial Law in order to stop an election, because that gives specific authority.
Interestingly I had typed but the removed a statement that said since the president has the authority to proclaim Martial Law, he could revoke Martial Law to hold the elections. But having not read the Constitution I wasn't exactly certain who had the authority to proclaim Martial Law, so I removed it not really knowing what the truth was, and determined that my statement was my belief and not proof.
Turns out I was right. Zelenskyy himself could call and end to Martial Law & hold elections, but he won't because he would lose that election and he knows it.
Thanks for bring up your argument, it gave me the needed push to look further.
We both are in agreeance now though, when we state the election is not being held because of Zelenskyy himself.
He has the power to declare Martial Law, and he has the power to also declare the end to Martial Law to hold the elections.
He has chosen to use the law established in the Constitution to block the election.
Explanation
I put the summation on top as it is the important part of the post. I merely added all of the other stuff to provide the information which includes my listing of Article 83, his listing of Article 83 to compare to see if we were both working from the same source since he did not provide the link for the source, but I did. They seemed to match. So, then I posted his comment from the post he had provided the URL to of his original rebuttal of Article 83 and I provided the clickable link, back to that post. In that post he mentioned Articles 102-112 which pertain to the President, not the legislature as Article 83 does pertain strictly to the legislature. But he had not listed Articles 102-112, and after posting them I could see why he didn't. It wasn't an easy task to accomplish. So, following that I posted the Articles 102-112 which pertain to t he president.
You are free to roam around or not within the entire long post, which I doubt many, if any, will. The only reason to do so would be one to see for themselves what I had done.
That will also explain why I moved the summation to the top.🤣
Article 83

In the event of the introduction of martial law or of a state of emergency in Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine assembles within a period of two days without convocation.
In the event that the term of authority of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expires while martial law or a state of emergency is in effect, its authority is extended until the day of the first meeting of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine , elected after the cancellation of martial law or of the state of emergency.
Adopted at the Fifth Session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 28 June 1996

It appears to me that we have both referenced the same Article 83 and that they march up word for word as being the same.
Your comments previous to the above being posted were:
Correct, but Article 83 dictates legislative authority and when the legislature is in session. It does not apply to Ukraine's executive branch, or president. The election of Ukraine's president and the president's authorities are covered in Articles 102-112, and that part of extending a president's power through martial law is nowhere to be seen in Ukraine's constitution. It was deliberately left out of Ukraine's constitution to prevent a president from declaring martial law in order to cancel elections.
What wasn't provided were the articles 102-112, which you correctly state above refer to the President (after having added them, I can see why you didn't include them), so I will provided them here:

The President of Ukraine shall not have another representative mandate, hold office in bodies of state power or in associations of citizens, and also perform any other paid or entrepreneurial activity, or be a member of an administrative body or board of supervisors of an enterprise that is aimed at making profit.
Regular elections of the President of Ukraine are held on the last Sunday of October of the fifth year of the term of authority of the President of Ukraine. Briton did not have an election during Ww2, don’t believe France did either and Churchill was defeated after the war.
The fact that during war Ukraine is not holding an election is based on their law, will Zelenski be re-elected after war is over? I doubt it, but that is politics.
On the other hand putin will be “re-elected” for as long as he is alive because he is doing such a great job for Russian people /s
After we were attacked, the Ukrainians even helped the US during Operation Desert Storm and had casualties, too, while helping us in our fight.
Friends remember this with our gratitude and with our help now in their fight for their sovereignty and survival after Russia attacked and has invaded them, while the ignorant fling poo at them (and at us, too, for helping them).
Low class and not much for integrity here, either.
“”””Don’t forget he eliminated all opposition parties over the last year or so.
Putin may be evil, but Russia at least has token opposition parties. The corrupt Slavs in Ukraine have none.””””
Out of the 100s of parties in Ukraine I know he banned 11 parties that were affiliated with Russia which is currently invading and trying to conquer Ukraine, destroying the cities and killing its people.
“Among the 11 banned parties are the Socialist Party of Ukraine, the Progressive Socialist Party of the Ukraine, the Union of Left Forces, and the Communist Party of Ukraine.”
Your claim isn’t accurate.
One is the fact that we have been involved in far too many wars, where we eventually lost, spending enormous amounts of money without realizing anything that we can say has benefitted our nation. We are not richer, we are not safer, if anything we become less safer with each new loss, nor are we respected or admired for our efforts.
Many of our men & women have lost their lives, or even worse, many have lost their quality of life after their service due to injuries they incurred in their service to this nation, and they seem be not even be treated like they should be.
But I think the overriding point here is that this conflict could have easily been avoided, because the lie is that Russia invaded Ukraine for their landmass & the riches in natural resources, coupled with the lie that Putin is looking to reconstitute the USSR.
There is zero evidence that these claims have any evidence that confirms this.
The coup d'état is what initially opened the can of worms. Democracy's do not allow their emotions to dictate the change of leadership. Nor should another Democracy go egg on a coup d'état either, and there was more than enough evidence of Victoria Nuland was front & center handing out cookies to the demonstrators.
Our involvement should have been focused on eliminating the friction.
But that wasn't done, and that's because the obvious intention was to absolutely stoke the friction. Obama & Biden were extremely upset that Russia had retaliated by seizing the Crimea.
They now wanted to have a proxy war with Russia. So, they allowed the hostilities to be piqued to get an internal civil war type of confrontation between the Nazis within Ukraine who held nothing but pure hatred for all Russians.
Regardless of the fact that these Russian speaking citizens considered themselves as Ukrainians, but their loyalties still had ties to Russia as well with extended families still living in Russia.
There were most likely some Russians living in Ukraine that were far more loyal to Russia than Ukraine, but they were by far a small minority. The same can not be said for the Ukrainian Nazis.
That is the biggest sticking point for most.
However, there is yet another larger sticking point as well, and that is the theft of taxpayer money from the Treasury being executed by sending large amounts of money to Ukraine, and being laundered back to people in the nation, including the Bidens, as well as, others.
Meanwhile regular Americans are suffering while the 10% have been realizing large amounts of money raising their holdings & lifestyles.
This is exactly why the most recent generation to break into adulthood, are leaving the Democrat Party in large numbers. They are being pinched out of a declining economy for the many, becoming the first generation to do worse, by a large measure, than their parents.
Before the Russians invaded, the Ukrainians I’ve talked to just wanted Ukraine to be as successful and prosperous as other European nations are and as other former Soviet states have become, and, not surprisingly, they wondered and complained about why they aren’t.
They blamed corruption in their government and they blamed Putin … and then Putin invaded and now they really hate the man. But they don’t blame any of those you do.
Whomever you might blame for Russia invading Ukraine or however much you or others want Ukraine to surrender and be like those other “surrender monkeys” so many love to laugh at, I think Ukraine has the same rights to its borders, identity, safety and sovereignty as we do and every other nation does, no matter who their neighbors are.
And, personally, I admire them for fighting for their freedom from Putin, first with votes and then with missiles and bullets, too. I remember when a majority of Americans still had that same certain kind of fire for freedom and I know that some here still feel it.
Who knows, maybe one day we, too, will choose to fight for our border, identity, safety and sovereignty, also, first with votes …
We have a government here that is acting like the USSR with their lawfare against Trump, and now we learn that the FBI was given the green light to use deadly force against Trump if they were confronted in any manner.
But my guess you are not happy, unless we are involved, because I believe that is what you are really about. You are probably making big money from the military-industrial complex, and you hate Trump also.
Have I identified who you really are correctly?
I also think if Trump would have become POTUS instead of Biden taking that office, none of this in Ukraine would be happening now.
But, since it is happening now, I want Russia to pay an extremely high price for this latest war on its neighbors and, to that end, Ukraine should be provided with the weapons it needs to defend itself and make the Russians pay dearly for their current war of conquest.
As long as Russia is targeting and attacking Ukrainians, their cities, their infrastructure, etc. with missiles, bombs, drones, etc., then I’m fine with Ukraine using whatever weapons they have, regardless of who they got them from, against all Russian troops, Russian weapon systems and Russian ammunition dumps, wherever they are being prepared for war against Ukraine.
Fwiw, I think we have lots of weapons that are or soon will be “obsolete” and we are going to decommission and dispose of them anyway, so we should let Ukraine have them, too.
All I know is, an ego is a very expensive thing to maintain … especially Putin’s Soviet Russian ego! Therefore, Russian Bankruptcy 2.0 is coming.
That is exactly why support for them is evaporating. Zelenskyy's pushing us to keep providing more, more, more does nothing to help his cause, withe people who have had enough of this inept president that is occupying the White House via election theft.
We are tired of the lawfare. We are tired of the press. We are tired of wokeness, treating males who say they are women as such, and a host of other issues.
I want Russia to pay an extremely high price for this latest war on its neighbors
I want the people in this nation who forced the invasion by refusing to work diplomatically towards a peaceful solution.
Putin kept seeking a peaceful solution, with 2 Minks Accords, which Angela Merkle admitted as she left office, that the Minsk Accords were just a delay tactic to arm & train Ukraine. Besides that, you seen to forget that we have invaded far more then Russia has under Putin. he was asked into Georgia to quell an insurrection, by Georgia's president at that time. So you are parroting the same propaganda about Putin invading his neighbor's with impunity.
What this is all about is the blackmailing of Joe Biden, because Ukraine has all of the corruption information on Joe Biden.
Wake up. This is not a fight we need to get involved in.
Look at all of the people Biden left stranded in Afghanistan to fend for themselves, this has nothing to do with Biden being a good President whatsoever.
So, why are you supporting Biden?
The only place that con man is popular is in Washington DC.
Biden is a plagiarist. When I was in high school, plagiarism was a serious honor code offense and, naive as I was/am, I was shocked that such a person with such a history would be holding high office and also be running for President! I was and still am disgusted.
Remember the Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas hearings and “Plugs” Biden grinning that shit eating Cheshire Cat grin while going out of his way to be disrespectful to both men, at least that’s my memory, tainted as it is by my utter disgust and contempt for Jobama oBiden.
I hope we are clear about this.
I think Biden was going to give Ukraine to Russia and Taiwan to China. Ukraine didn’t get that memo, I guess, so it was a good thing they did get some Javelins and other things from President Donald J. Trump!
Fwiw, I think the demonrats are historically and ideologically aligned with the Soviets then and the Russians now, as Ted Kennedy, obama, Hillary Clinton and many others have shown over the years. And, if you believe that Ukraine is the only country who has blackmail info on Jobama oBiden, then you’re a fool.
But I do think you’re right about Ukraine. If not for whatever blackmail Ukraine might have against the Jobama oBiden crime family, I doubt Ukraine would have received much help at all. I believe they were to be sacrificed for “peace in our times” or whatever, more or less as a gift to Putin/Russia.
But, since that didn’t happen, to me it looks like Zelensky’s blackmail fu against Biden is better than Putin’s blackmail fu and here we are a few years and many, many thousands of dead Russians later.
However, Biden has slow rolled support, too, allowing shortages in Ukrainian defenses at the front at critical times and places, “giving” Putin some gains in territory, for which Biden then blames on the republicans for not giving Ukraine the help they need. All too easy.
Whatever happens, Putin should not be rewarded for his aggressions against his neighbors.
Putin should not get to keep any territory he has taken and, in a just world, Russia would also have to pay for damages they have done to Ukraine, the same as if your neighbor would have to do if they did unto you what Russia has done to Ukraine.
They have been pocketing money we have sent to execute the war. They go through the armaments as if they were easily replenished. Some of the weapons end up on the black markets, and they act like we owe them. It's become quite obvious that there is something more going on that is not being exposed, because we no longer have a press which has become an extension of the Democrat Party, instead of the governmental watchdog as intended. I suspect that is because the Democrat & RINO Uni-party is taking care of them financially.
They changed the schools teach our future to hate this nation and we are seeing first hand, how that is now reaping the intended rewards.
They have corrupted all of the entertainment industry to bring porn & smut into our homes, and not our schools to create sexual oriented beings instead of intelligent beings.
Biden stole this election, he knows darn well that he didn't receive 81 million votes, & the republican were partner to the theft of both the 2020 election, and the 2022 elections.\
The RINO faction of the Republican Party are all active members of the Uni-party that created the criminal enterprise that fleeces the American taxpayers while offering this country up for sale to the highest bidders, trading on insider information, graft, kickbacks, rigging awarding specific vendors/contractors that are also a part of the criminal enterprise Deep State that donate large sums of money to keep sending these same people back contiguously to control the apparatus.
They are no different than a criminal Mafia styled organization, and the are no less as ruthless either.
By supporting Ukraine, you are unwittingly supporting the criminal leviathan our Federal Government has morphed into over the decades, and it has cascaded itself down through all levels of governments. I mean they basic operate without fear, and they have even begun displaying their disdain for all citizens. so much so that they have no problem replacing the whole lot of us for some newbies that aren't aware that our nation is a worldwide criminal operation.
That is why the world hates this country.
People do not want to believe a giant conspiracy can exist, let alone accept that one does exist.
This conflict is all part & parcel of the deception that these Satan worshipping people are engaged in, who want nothing more than to seize total control, eliminate those with thinking brains, and enslave the ignorant brawny that remain. Open your eyes to what is taking place. we out number them significantly.
This is why they are attacking Trump with everything at their disposal, and the fact that the FBI gave orders to use deadly force if necessary shows just how desperate they really are right now. They know they are being exposed.
Hopefully we can unite to put Trump back in office. Because we need to regain control of the levers of power.
These people who say, well Trump promised to drain the swamp, but he didn't do it, or blathering fools. Had Trump moved to use powers to retain the presidency, then the people would have believed that Trump really was another Hitler. He had hoped to be able to present the case in court, but that was thwarted. So, it was going to be presented to Congress while being aired on C-Span, but that too was thwarted. Which left him no choice but to fold up the tent and return to civilian life.
Had he made the decision to not throe his hat in the ring again, none of these attacks would be occurring. I really fear for his life, because that is slowly becoming their only remaining option left to stop Trump.
I'm sorry for the long screed, but hopefully you might think and realize you are being played when it comes to supporting Ukraine in this conflict. Withdraw your support and let's see what Ukraine does without support. It could get quite interesting very fast. Either Zelenskyy will turn tail & run, or he might open up & let loose with the knowledge they have well documented. I think it will be the latter, for if he tries to run, they will find him & he will meet with some kind of accident.
You are knowledgeable about Biden, not get versed with the rest to join the battle to awaken people. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be with all of the things they are sowing us in their desperation. They were so confident that success was in their grasp. It was indeed within their grasp, but they got too cocky, too soon.
I wonder if that is why we are hearing Klaus Schwab is stepping down from the WEF?
May the Lord bless your life.
The nefarious activities you speak to and accuse Ukraine of doing are the same things Russia is doing and are the same things that happen here, also.
We, the people, are being run by crime family rules here, too, as long as the various crime families here are in power over us. It’s just that way, but I think it’s much worse in Russia than here, even with the demonrat majority running this country into the ground.
For this reason, WEF or not, I believe Ukraine will be much better off in times to come, since so many in the West are now very much invested in Ukraine and its future as a free nation unbeholden to Putin.
Imagine how much better that country and our country would be now if President Donald J. Trump was still in office and the reforms and anti-corruption measures he and they advocated and implemented were kept in place. Maybe we will do that again soon. Such is my hope and prayer.
To all things, a season. Good times, bad times, neither lasts forever. God is still in charge. You know it and I know it. Everyday, I’m watching for Him to see what He will do and/or what He will allow to happen next.
Fwiw, I’ve been reading the “True Life In God” messages for years now and there are many messages and prophecies written about Russia. I had real hope for Russia thanks to what is written in those messages.
However, there are also warnings that come with His Blessings, and so I now wonder how Russia’s war on Ukraine fits with what I’ve read in those messages and prophecies.
