Alvin Bragg 'Counting On' Michael Cohen Lying During Trump Trial—Attorney
Newsweek ^ | May 12, 2024 | Natalie Venegas

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is "counting on" Michael Cohen lying during former President Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial, according to attorney and Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett on Saturday.

Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer, is set to testify in the high-profile trial on Monday, which will determine whether the former president falsified business records over payments, allegedly facilitated by Cohen, to former adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an alleged affair that happened in 2006 secret before the 2016 presidential election, as alleged in a criminal indictment.

Prosecutors led by Bragg allege the $130,000 payment was part of a scheme to stop potentially damaging stories about Trump from becoming public. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 election, has denied any wrongdoing and that the affair ever happened. The former president has pleaded not guilty to all 34 charges against him in the case.

In a Fox News opinion column published Saturday titled, "The prosecution's star witness against Trump, Michael Cohen, is a chronic and habitual liar" Jarrett, a former defense attorney and author who is also known for his pro-Trump stances, discussed Cohen's expected testimony as he claimed the district attorney is "counting on" Cohen to lie.

"As we enter the fourth week of testimony, none of the witnesses called thus far have connected Trump to any criminal wrongdoing. Apparently, Cohen is the prosecution's only witness who can attempt to do that. He'll lie, of course. It's a given. And that's what Bragg is counting on," he wrote.

Trump’s “lawyer and fixer” should have the word “allegedly” attached. Trump is too big to have just one lawyer and Cohen being a fixer is not documented. More media misinformation.

I could swear I read somewhere that the POS judge has forbidden Trump’s lawyers from bringing up any of those cases. That’s gonna be one of the arguments on appeal.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all 34 charges. I wonder what they would say if he pleaded not guilty to only 33 charges but guilty to one. The only reason to mention he pleaded not guilty is so they could say there were 34 charges against him. The only reason there are 34 charges is to make him guilty of something just by virtue of the fact that they have so many charges that he must be guilty of something.

The demo-fashtits are trying to put a former and, if the vote fraud can be overcome, the next President of the United States in prison for the remainder of his life. These same people routinely free criminals with long arrest records so they can go out and victimize again.

Trump’s crime? The accounting department of his multi-billion dollar company put “legal expenses” for a 130k check to his lawyer on an internal ledger. The money was sourced to personal funds and dislcosed to the election commission who found nothing unusual. Even though NDA’s are completely legal and often used by politicians/celebs/the wealthy to squelch embarrassing claims - both true and untrue - apparently the crime here is that the accountant should have entered “extortion payment” or something else [what, they don’t say]. The alleged affair/NDA was then publicized by the person who got the $$$ [and kept every dime], but he is accused of trying to ‘influence the election’, for which there is no criminal statute.

Their star witnesses have denied the affair in writing, on TV, and are convicted perjurers.

And they gaslight the rest of the nation into believing PDJT is the proto-fascist.

Excuse me, “ In the United States, if the prosecution obtains a criminal conviction using evidence that it knows is false, the conviction violates the defendant’s constitutional right to due process (e.g., Napue v. Illinois, 1959).”

It doesn’t matter if I believe every word he says. There is no crime. People selling stories, others buying stories that were sold for more money not to tell the stories. No crime. Strange business, but no crimes. And certainly recording a payment as “legal expense” is not a criminal offense of this magnitude if a crime at all.

The entire case is “Trump did weird things to cover them up. You shouldn’t like Trump for doing that, or anything else, so convict him of crimes that don’t exist” with an anti-Trump jury. This case should have never made it to trial.

We can all agree this case should have never made it to trial, but we do ourselves and our cause a disservice by repeatedly claiming “there’s no crime.” There apparently was enough evidence to make a DA, grand jury, and a court conclude there is enough probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.

Whether the payment to Stormy was a crime, or whether it somehow became a crime because of Trump’s intent, is still in contest right now. We shouldn’t pretend that the outcome will suddenly validate and remove our real concerns.

The DA isn’t trying to say paying Stormy was a crime because it isn’t. He’s trying to say labeling the payment as legal fees is a crime. Which it isn’t.

There.is.no.crime.

Really? Then what’s the crime?

He did say in Stormey’s California attempt to invalidate the nda that the money wasn’t fees but a reimbursement.

Biden and the democrat party have lost CNN on this.
Trump lawyer just has to ask Cohen: You lie to... and to... and to...etc etc.

CNN analyst: “I’ve never seen a witness who’s lied to Congress, who’s lied to court, who’s lied to the IRS, who’s lied to the Southern District of New York, who lied to his banker. The entire prosecution witness team has been lied to by Michael Cohen.”
