Bronx politicians are ripping Gov. Kathy Hochul after she asserted that some black children in the borough don’t know what the word “computer” means.Hochul, speaking at an on-stage forum in California Monday, stuck her foot in her mouth while trying to explain how she wants to create a diverse workforce in new areas like artificial intelligence.
“Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is,” Gov. Kathy Hochul blabbered into a microphone Monday.

I misspoke and I regret it,” Hochul later told the Post in a statement. “Of course Black children in the Bronx know what computers are — the problem is that they too often lack access to the technology needed to get on track to high-paying jobs in emerging industries like AI.

The problem is they are not taught to read and write english or basic mathematics in NY public schools. It ain’t got nuthin’ to do with technology.

She should have explained what a computer is before doing all that virtual teaching during covid.
“I miss spoke, and I regret it” translates roughly to I accidentally said what I truly believe, got caught, and now I’m trying desperately to backtrack.
Democrats always say what they mean and then backpedal when it comes back to bite them.

I just said the same thing. I have a lefty teacher and husband I keep around on FB. It was all TDS from 2016-2020, then politics became really taboo after a weird “It’s not who we are, we will get thru this” comment.
It took some digging and Google, Basically during her TDS rants about being, gasp, might have to go to school and teach in FL under DeathSantis, her hubby went on a racist rant targeting a black teen girl, out of a group of like 3, in their community on a golf cart, saying he will call the PD and have the black girl arrested as she doesn’t belong in that community. She tried to say it’s not who we are, etc. and apologize, etc. and thankfully, the victim didn’t accept it, and they fled the state within 6 months.
While I do not doubt for a moment that NY schools are severely lacking in teaching basic fundamentals in order for students to be able to eventually be capable of navigating society, the “problem” here is that Hochul singled out black students that are lacking.
It’s the same as when Democrats say that voter ID laws are racist because it negatively affects mostly the black community, the implication (and the ‘rats belief) being that blacks are too stupid to be able to get an ID and/or are too lazy.
She knew this, did nothing, because she’s a RACIST!
The black kids in the Bronx should spam every email account in the Governor’s office until they cry uncle and beg for them to stop.
