A defiant Fani Willis refused to appear before a Georgia state senate investigative committee and afterward claimed they don't have the power to subpoena her as they have threatened.
The Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney is prosecuting former President Donald Trump in her election interference case, but her own conduct has increasingly come under the microscope. Not only did she have an affair with Nathan Wade, an attorney who was helping prosecute the case, but now her official spending habits have raised eyebrows as well.
Ever since her actions came under scrutiny, she has proven to be hot-tempered, entitled, and arrogant. She made no exception to that as she explained in a news conference Monday why she refused to appear, surrounded by faith leaders as she spoke from the steps of Big Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She was quite smug as she answered a reporter's question:
REPORTER: Would you appear before a Georgia Senate committee without a subpoena?
WILLIS: Well first of all I don't even think they have the authority to subpoena me, but they didn't learn the law.
REPORTER: Will you appear, yes or no?
WILLIS: I will not appear to anything that is unlawful. I have not broken the law in any way. I've said it, you know, I'll say it amongst these leaders—I'm sorry folks get p***ed off that everybody gets treated even.
FAITH LEADER STANDING NEXT TO HER: I think she answered that very well.
Fani may not think the state senate has the power to subpoena her, but lawmakers disagree:
The committee chairman, State Sen. Bill Cowsert, told FOX 5 in a phone interview following Willis’ news conference that he maintains that the committee has the legal power to compel her testimony.
He said she could be held in contempt if she refuses to cooperate.
"I sure hope it doesn’t get to that," Cowsert said.
Lt. Gov. Burt Jones agreed and said that indeed, everyone will be treated equally:
"If subpoenaed by the Committee, she will be required to appear, or she will be in violation of Georgia law," Jones said in an email. "This is what treating everybody evenly looks like, even if DA Willis doesn’t like being held accountable."
Meanwhile, Willis didn't comment on an ABC interview that also aired Monday featuring her former paramour, whose statement contradicted what Willis has said in the past.
Former Donald Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade made an absurd claim that he and Fani Willis ended their affair the “moment” they realized they were in love with each other — a statement completely at odds with his ex-lover’s version of events.
Speaking to ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Wade claimed he developed feelings for the Fulton County district attorney, who appointed him as special prosecutor to the election fraud case in 2021 “over time.”
“You don’t plan to fall in love,” he told the show, in his first interview since he was made to resign from the case in March...
Wade’s statement contradicted Willis’ testimony in February that there was “always” tension in her relationship with Wade and that they would have “brutal arguments” about the fact she was his equal.
This whole case seemed like a farce before it even began, but now that it's become rather sordid and Willis' actions have come under such scrutiny, it weakens the prosecution while also making it more likely that it may not be completed before the November presidential election.
Willis has proven to be a particularly unsympathetic character, and all these goings on will only further cause people to question her overall judgment.

She is above the law and she is annoyed that some folks can’t see that.
I sho’ hates it too po widdew thang! what absolute crocodile “tears” shrouded in the Jesus and fake as hell “confessions” that are not confessions. Twisted as hell. And doomed to being subjected to civilization— this is not Kenya or Cuba.
She and her boyfriends will tell you the Law doesn’t apply to them.
Simple, really.
She has no respect for Law.
Only “her law” matters to her.
Burt Jones gets to the nub of the legal facts of this matter. She will be subpoenaed and she had better appear and answer their questions— and then be ready to be removed. They have the goods on this clown college graduate.
“Faith leader” translates to Clyburn like demonrat machine black political operative... freaking liar on steroids— empowering screwing the taxpayers out all our money. No more. Not from the likes of these.
She sounds like Shaka Zulu’s chief wives== “we are the power”. Gonna be a shock to their personas to know they are not the power within Georgia law. Inexorable law and consequences of financial audits.
There’s always the race card.
Black Privilege
She has the race card and the vagina card.
And she will play both. Repeatedly.
What an utterly stupid POS.
Why is she making statements at Big Bethel on a Monday?
I HATE the way these people use an alleged church as a prop for their lying, fornicating, thieving selves. You’d think that even something posing as a church would have qualms about that.
throw her in jail for contempt!
The walls are closing in!
It’s all over for Fani now!
The Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney is prosecuting former President Donald Trump in her election interference case…
(FAITH LEADER STANDING NEXT TO HER: I think she answered that very well.)
LOL 😆🤣
Where to start....🙄🙄🙄
I predict she either doesn’t show and DARES someone to try to do something about it, or she DOES appear, pleads the 5th on everything she doesn’t want to answer, and will answer “That’s racist”, “That’s sexist”, or “That’s none of your business” to the rest.
100%
Is threatening a subpoena a mandatory first step before issuing a subpoena? Seems like a waste of time.
