Like the way the Roman Legions used their shields as overhead protection against a flurry of arrows. The called it “testudo” or, tortoise shell. So tortoise, turtle, whatever. Nothing new under the sun.

Looks to me as if they’ve created a defense against one threat that makes them far more vulnerable to others.

Don’t expect these to be effective for very long...

“Don’t expect these to be effective for very long...”

Yeah, all big z needs is more of our children’s future to continue his futile attempt at victory. FJB and FVZ

A close-up suggests the tanks “turtle” covering is made of wooden 2x8s.

Which, I guess, will protect the tank itself from “an enemy’s” drone dropping explosives from the air.

Interesting that sandbags are still used underneath.

So now it takes 2 FPVs to take out a tank. Or one landmine.

The tortoise is an amazing creature to keep as a pet. It hibernates behind the sofa all winter and comes out to its big water dish in the spring and empties itself out in the water. Then it’s good to go for wandering about the house on its own. As the article says, keep water dishes clean and available and give it balanced diet including greens.

It should be easy to modify our tanks to do the same thing as the Russians did with their tanks...if we had the spot on non feminised leader ship that could get it done!

More propaganda... I’m sure a hellfire, javelin and NLAWs work just fine and any other anti tank weapon fired into the front or back would work fine as well .. the shell has minimal effect on a real weapon.

Just shows how INNOVATIVE the Russia are, especially when compared to the Warmed-over Hippies who run Western militaries and governments.

They aren’t effective - they are a joke on the battlefield - good for collecting mines - the exploding mines keep all the force under the steel shell, dooming the crew, but keeping others from harm.

Meanwhile Ukie dog faces are accepting surrender to Russian forces.

No one wants to fight for the crooked little dwarf Zman and all of his. Oligarch, EuroWankers. And NWO NeoCucks.

Sit out the war until either Zman flees or is strung up by Ukrainian patriots.

Zman the greasy humpback , where will he run too ?

That is pretty much the size of it. And I am not sure the “design” has really been tested much yet. I think the turtle tank withstood a couple of drone assaults. But that is not a thoroughly convincing proof of concept. It could just be luck.

Our Sonoran Desert tortoise, Frances, sleeps in a box in the closet next to my desk all winter. In the spring when I hear her scratching I put her outside in her habitat where she gets to eat dichondra, hibiscus, grape leaves, strawberry leaves, Bermuda grass, fescue, weeds, and Zoomed grassland tortoise food, as well as the occasional corn cobette or lettuce leaf.

During the middle of the scorching Arizona summer days she stays in the burrow I built for her, complete with cool air from the house blown in through a dryer hose by a little computer fan.

Yeah, she’s spoiled.
