WASHINGTON — House Democratic leadership said in a joint statement Tuesday that they would vote to help save Speaker Mike Johnson if far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., moves to oust him.
"From the very beginning of this Congress, House Democrats have put people over politics and found bipartisan common ground with traditional Republicans in order to deliver real results," said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar. "At the same time, House Democrats have aggressively pushed back against MAGA extremism. We will continue to do just that."
Democratic leaders said they would vote to table or dismiss Greene's resolution to vacate the chair against Johnson, R-La. — a move that would effectively kill the resolution — providing a safety blanket for Johnson even if more GOP critics join Greene.
"If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed," the Democrats said.
They blasted out their statement just as Johnson and his GOP leadership team were holding a news conference in the Capitol, ensuring that the speaker would be asked about it. As the news ricocheted around social media, an aide quickly passed the speaker a note; Johnson told reporters it was the first he’d heard of it. Pressed on whether he had struck a deal with Jeffries, Johnson replied: “No, there’s no deal at all."
"I have to do my job. We have to do what we believe to be the right thing. What the country needs right now is a functioning Congress," Johnson told reporters, adding that the ouster of his predecessor, Speaker Kevin McCarthy, last fall resulted in a three-week paralysis in the House.
"No one can afford that. ... I have to do what I believe is right every day and let the chips fall where they may."

And then he owes Them a favor.
Johnson has now joined the UniParty.
How can they be dem leaders when they are all followers?
Terd
Another another one that needs to go.
Of course. RINOs are a Dem’s best friend.
“House Democratic leaders say they would help save Speaker Mike Johnson’s job”
Representatives Massie and Taylor-Greene are vilified for wanting Johnson to be removed from the Speaker position. It’s an upside-down world.
The Republican party is a train wreck.
They are running circles around the repugnic-nts. The r’s are weak, stupid, cowardly, traitors. Most are likely compromised and or actors. A revolution won by real patriots must include them as examples for the stocks and tomatoes
If he’s not removed soon, Johnson will use these same Democrats and more to help him remove the vacate rule completely.
“Johnson has now joined the UniParty.”
It is now official. How many others are like him in the Republican Party? IMHO the Republican Party needs a serious overhaul to rid itself of the RINO’s and assistant Democrats.
That says all any Republican needs to know about FISA/Ukraine Johnson.
Of course they would, since he’s a closet DemocRAT, otherwise known as a RINO.
It’s always a surprise to find people calling for a revolution on a site devoted to God, Family, and America.
It could be a (D) head fake: the D’s fake support of Johnson, MTG goes all in on principle, and then the D’s renege on supporting Johnson and instead support Jeffries, with a few RINOs on board for the win. Then if Trump wins in November, it’s off to impeachment-town in January.
If Mike Johnson was truly a self-respecting conservative, he would have already resigned before this humiliation.
This man is a Traitor!
Republicans - Democrats.
Same college. Different fraternity.
The most evil people are running our country and it is happening because of cowards who claim to represent the people.
Wonder how much the Marxist Dems gave Mike.
It looks to me that Mike Johnson is Judas in a trojan horse.
Why hasn’t he released all the Jan 6 videos?
