Bible in a Year :
We love because he first loved us.
As Xavier prepares for the birth of his first child, I’m praying he’ll enjoy trying to out-love his son as they make sweet memories. But as I prepare to be a grandmother, I’m amazed at how much I loved my grandson from the moment Xavier and his wife told us they were expecting a baby.
The apostle John affirmed that Jesus’ love for us gives us the ability to love Him and others (1 John 4:19). Knowing He loves us gives us a sense of security that deepens our personal relationship with Him (vv. 15-17). As we realize the depth of His love for us (v. 19), we can grow in our love for Him and express love in other relationships (v. 20). Not only does Jesus empower us to love, but He also commands us to love: “And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (v. 21). When it comes to loving well, God always wins. No matter how hard we try, we can’t out-love God! .
Reflect & Pray
How has knowing God loves you helped you to love others? How can you show love to others this week?
Loving Savior, thank You for loving me first so I can love others.
Howdy, luvie.
I hope you slept late and had a good day.
The San Diego Bay cam IS a cool one to watch, isn’t it? It’s fun to watch the different Navy ships heading in and out, as well as the other neat ships and boats.
Hey there, radu!
It was an excellent day! I slept late, had a great nap and now am sitting outside on the patio. There is zero wind and it’s just the right temperature at 79 right now. All I hear are a few dogs barking and traffic on our busy street one block south of me. And it’s not as frantic as usual.
Hope your day was good, too. I noticed it was still decently warm there tonight.
I love watching that cam. So much going on with our navy guys and gals!
Fertilized with weed & feed too and the lawn is getting long, time for another mow tomorrow.
It does sound like an excellent day, especially the sitting-on-the-patio part. It’s good to get outside when the weather permits.
My do-nothing day didn’t materialize. LOL I mowed the grass at the end of the house where the field lines are because it would have been out of hand by next week. VERY healthy and thick. At least it didn’t take long.
Then I put the flowers I bought this weekend into hanging pots and have them on the shepherd’s hook. A little something besides the food in the feeders for the hummingbirds until the rose of sharons start blooming.
Not long ago I hauled off the bags of scoopings and realized the wind wasn’t blowing. Checked the radar and figured I had time before rain arrives to rake the leaves off the carport at the old house and burn them. Timed that perfectly. As soon as the pile was down to ashes it started sprinkling.
Just got back in from doing that and am down for the night. And tomorrow WILL be a do-nothing day. The ol’ bum back demands it. LOL
Man! Your day just made me sweat! LOL! You got a lot done and now you deserve a do-nothing day!
It was wonderful to sit out there. I’m back in now. It’s amazing how much cooler 79 degrees feels without the sun to back it up. The kitties are also enjoying the quiet not-too-warm evening.
Thank you for that link. I spent many nights sitting on the pier at Somar School studying. It was very calming to see and hear the activities in the Bay and hear the aircraft shooting landings on North Island.
I remember very distinctly the harbor being completely empty of any Naval vessels the day before the Cuban Missile Crisis. I remember it so vividly because the very next morning we all received emergency orders to proceed to various submarines all along the East coast. I went to a boat in Key West.
Wow! What sad but beautiful memories!
I didn’t wake up intending to do much of anything but it just worked out the way it did. I had a winter of do-nothing days and am ready to do, but I’m limited by my bum back.
Did the kitties enjoy having Mommy hanging out with them tonight?
Thank you for sharing your memories of dangerous times, and I hope you kept the link so you could watch the ships some more. It’s quite fascinating!
It must have been very eerie to see that harbor devoid of any naval boats whatsoever. I’m so glad you got back safely and I really and truly thank you for your service, spel! :)
You can now enjoy your do-nothing day tomorrow without feeling any guilt whatsoever.
I guess they enjoyed having me. They just went about their kitty business, and Shadow brushed my legs with his sweet stubby tail occasionally. :)
Guilt or not, do-nothing tomorrow and beyond is a must. Nerves to my legs are pinched in my back tonight. Gotta be able to walk by the weekend.
The kitties might not have been under you feet all the time but just having you out there with them meant a lot. Shadow let you know that. :-)
Yesterday at Comanche Lake:
As you cna see Gizmo enjoyed himself out there.
How's everyone doing this morning?
Ouch! That’s a whole nuther level of pain. Take care of yourself so you will be mobile by the weekend for sure. Wish you could take ibuprofen. It would help reduce the inflammation a lot.
Well, it was just nice to be with them on an evening when there was no wind. That is soooo rare here. I’d go out again, but it’s now 70 degrees, and that would not be too comfy at night. Well, maybe if it was up from the 30s or something. Perspective=everything. LOL!
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Nice to see you had a gorgeous day yesterday. Gizmo obviously had a blast.
I hear more nasty is in store for y’all the next two days. I wish you lotsa luck in missing out on the action.
It’s starting to calm down a little now that I’ve been relaxing for a bit. It’ll feel even better when I go to bed and am horizontal, and that won’t be much longer. I woke up too early, unable to go back to sleep, and feel it.
Sounds like a nice evening for all of you. It’s a good thing your laptop’s battery was charged up this time. You missed out on a nice evening a week or so, as I recall.
The rain has arrived in earnest now, coming down hard enough to pound on the roof. I’m glad this system calmed down a LOT since it went through TX and OK last night. A little lightning would be nice though. LOL
And I'm happy to report that the entire city of Ardmore has power back on. They lost power from the storms late Saturday and early Sunday after 5 tornadoes moved through.
Kudos to OG&E and all the electric utilities for getting power back on all those affected areas from the weekend storms.
No lightning again! What have those storms have against you! All you want is a decent light show. I’m jealous of the rain. Everyone is getting rain except us. Story of our lives. Fingers crossed that the bad stuff is over.
Yes, I made sure that the laptop was charged this time. It has a good long battery time, but last time, I just hadn’t paid attention to it.
It does look like it’s going to be in “pour” mode for the next week along the same stretch as over the weekend.
Those lakes that have been low for so long should be close to full when it’s over . :-)
Great that the power has been restored already in Ardmore. They had a very rough night with so many tornados roaring through.
