Gov. Kristi Noem has “no shot” at being Donald Trump’s running mate after revealing in a forthcoming book that she shot and killed her puppy, sources close to the 45th president tell The Post.
***
“She was already unlikely to be picked as VP, but had a shot,” the person said of Noem, who has been widely projected to be on Trump’s shortlist.
“After this, it’s just impossible.”
Noem writes, according to the Guardian, that she executed Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, after determining that the pooch’s “aggressive personality” made her “untrainable” as a hunting dog.
“It was not a pleasant job,” the 52-year-old recounts, “but it had to be done.”
*** “Trump isn’t a dog person necessarily,” “but I think he understands that you can’t choose a puppy killer as your pick, for blatantly obvious reasons.”
A second source told The Post that Trump “likes Kristi a lot,” but was “disappointed when hearing the ‘dog’ story. ***
Unfettered, Cricket attacked the family’s chickens, “grabb[ing] one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another,” according to the governor.
When Noem tried to restrain the dog, Cricket “whipped around to bite me,” and was “the picture of pure joy” during the fowl-killing spree.
In the same excerpt, Noem described in graphic detail her killing a male goat who was “nasty and mean” because it was uncastrated, and “loved to chase” her children around.
To kill the goat, she “dragged him to the gravel pit” where she disposed of Cricket and had to shoot him repeatedly to finish the job.

Can’t disagree with that.
No it’s not sociopathic, maybe go look up the meaning of a word before you go tossing it around.
An animal that has killed and attacked other animals and gone after humans, putting it down is not remotely “sociopathic”. You don’t have to agree with her choice but hardly so it sociopathic.
No difference between your nonsense and those that call conservative Nazis.
Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding, the famous African explorer, was the character played by Groucho Marx in the movie Animal Crackers. But you knew that.
Sorry, I posted my last comment before reading yours.

plenty of karens right here on FR as well.
OMG this made me laugh. LOLOLOLOLOLOL
She also said she hated the dog. It didn’t kill any animals or chickens. He chased them.
She could have rehomed him. Said he wasn’t a good hunting dog. My cousin sent his lab to 6 month training camp to be a Master hunter. Cost 5K. She could have chose to do that also.
Why the heck would she include that in her book? Anyone would know that that would be cringe worthy. She is toast politically even in South Dakota
An excerpt from The Guardian:
Noem describes calling Cricket, then using an electronic collar to attempt to bring her under control. Nothing worked. Then, on the way home after the hunt, as Noem stopped to talk to a local family, Cricket escaped Noem’s truck and attacked the family’s chickens, “grabb[ing] one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another”.
Cricket the untrainable dog, Noem writes, behaved like “a trained assassin”.
When Noem finally grabbed Cricket, she says, the dog “whipped around to bite me”. Then, as the chickens’ owner wept, Noem repeatedly apologised, wrote the shocked family a check “for the price they asked, and helped them dispose of the carcasses littering the scene of the crime”.
As I said, I don't agree with killing the dog, but the dog did a lot more than just being 'untrainable.'
That's an excuse, and a weak one at that. We live in a time when humane euthanasia is extremely widespread even for farm animals. Also you badly miss the point. Noem could have easily taken her dog to a vet to have it euthanized if she thought it was necessary. But she didn't. Instead, she played the tough ranch woman and then bragged about it in a book. What does that say about her character?
Noem is a stupid, psychotic bi**h.
Animal abusers are subhuman scum.
Not gonna give you props. I know things that you never will.
Not saying I’m a bad dog. But I know some shit.
I can happily go through life without your “props.” Also, of course you know things I never will, but it goes the opposite way too. I know things you never will. This is because we each have our own lives and experiences, have never met, and never will.
I was raised on a small family ranch and live in the country by choice. Her story sounds like nonsense to me-Sounds to me like the dog was poorly trained since it was a biter-and you don’t ever let a pointer, retriever, etc loose around chickens or other birds-it is a dog selectively bred to hunt BIRDS! She could have given the dog to a rescue shelter to be trained properly and found another owner-or if she hated the dog so much, then she could have taken it to a vet to be humanely put down-not dragged it out and shot it. If a neighbor’s dog is on your property chasing/killing your livestock, then you are justified in shooting it-but not unless that is going on. Of course a person can kill their own dogs if they want, but it does say something about their personality that is not nice-even to a rural person like me...
And unless you are keeping him as a breeder, everyone I know has male goats neutered when they are very young so they do not attack people or other animals-my neighbors do it all the time, same as my family did. every rural community has at least one vet who makes farm calls for that and other livestock health needs.
Livestock is expensive-you don’t kill it unless you raised it for food or it is dying of an injury/illness-and you have someone who is a good shot to drop it with one head shot, same as when you slaughter for food-not torture the animal. I hunt deer for venison, not sport-and I don’t even like the idea of someone who kills animals when there is no need-especially not like she did...
I’m happy to see that someone else knows that male goats are dangerous unless neutered. And if you can’t keep a bird dog away from chickens-trained or not-you give the dog to a rescue to be found a new home-pointers are not cheap, and are popular dogs...
I understand the story was already out and she was trying to get ahead of it. Also it happened 20 years ago.Farm dogs and working hunting dogs are not really pets most time and sometimes just considered part of the stock. Y’all say what you will but maybe, just maybe, she saved some young child in the future from getting mauled. I have had dogs all my life but sometimes you get one that is just plain insane, wont listen, kills other animals for fun, completely uncontrollable.
So someone else has to deal with the problem dog. Nope, I think she did the right thing, she solved the problem so no one else had to.
A bullet to the brain is quite humane.
