Animal rights nonprofit group PETA has strongly condemned Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) after she recently shared a story about her killing her 14-month-old dog, “Cricket,” for his lousy hunting skills.
The story is published in her book No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward and was intended to show that when it came to politics or personal life, she wasn’t afraid of getting “messy and ugly.” It instead garnered sharp criticism from animal lovers everywhere.
“Most Americans love their dogs, and we suspect that they will consider Gov. Noem a psychotic loony for letting this rambunctious puppy loose on chickens and then punishing her by deciding to personally blow her brains out rather than attempting to train her or find a more responsible guardian who would provide her with a proper home,” PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “Gov. Noem obviously fails to understand the vital political concepts of education, cooperation, compromise, and compassion.
Noem decided to shoot Cricket after the dog killed a local family’s chickens after a pheasant hunting trip and then bit her when she tried to intervene. Noem said she “hated that dog” and deemed it “less than worthless” for being unable to hunt properly.
After taking the dog to a gravel pit and shooting it, she also shot a goat she owned, which she said stunk and was “nasty and mean.”
She could have given the Dog away.
All the while, Obeyme can eat a dog 🐶 and nobody will bat an eye 👁.
She should have given it to an animal shelter that kills them, instead.
Most animal shelters are not “No Kill.”
They kill a lot of animals.
Noem is clearly very stupid. At least Mitt didn’t wrote a book called “Roof Ridin’ Rover”. I guarantee she is toast.
So not actually killed for bad hunting skills. Killed for killing the neighbor’s chickens. Still probably bad enough to end her higher political ambitions.
give away a dog that bites its owner? That’s risky.
Why would she feel the need to air the story? Did she think it was attractive? She has nothing else to write about? Was she trying to signal that she is not a girlie-girl? That she is no different from the guys and has a large amount of testosterone?
The dog also bit her.
The people criticizing her for putting down a dangerous dog are probably the same people who hate pit bulls and want them all put down.
She’s done.
She could have given the Dog away.

You don’t know the real story. Quit drinking the PETA koolaid.
It was a justified shoot.
agree. maybe she was trying to get in front of the story. Strange.
It sounds like the dog was vicious and it bit her so putting it down might have been justified but to do it yourself with a gun is a bit radical.
Agreed. I’m sure plenty of ranchers in her state will understand, but not the rest of the general public. I don’t like it at all, but I get that sometimes you have to do things that aren’t pleasant. Now, the goat on the other hand, what do you expect from a goat? She should have just left these stories out.
Yeah, not leaving those stories out seems to me shows that she lacks common sense.

Not true but it could be possible soon and funnier.
Read this for the facts.....

I don’t have any concern about her killing her animals.
I don’t think it’s needed to pay a vet to kill your animal, when you have a gun.
I disagree. I had an expensive Chesapeake Bay Retriever once that was one of the smartest duck hunting dogs I ever had. One Sunday my grandmother came over and brought her little Chihuahua. I had gone to the grocery store and when I came back I found my grandmother had been attacked by the chessie and her arms were mangled. The dog had snatched the Chihuahua out of her arms and was running around in the yard slinging it to death in his mouth as she desperately tried to get the dog out of his mouth. Nevertheless I went out to the kennel and attempted to get the dog hoping it was still alive. My chessie looked at me with bloodshot eyes with a vengeance like he didn’t know me. I had no choice but to go get my Colt M1911 .45 and put a bullet between his eyes. He was so friendly to everyone but he snapped when he saw that Chihuahua.
I’ve known quail hunters to buy expensive Pointers and Setters who spent tons of money having them trained and then shoot them dead because they wouldn’t hunt or point. Noem did the right thing as I did.
She was trying to show how “country” she is.
Actually a dog being aggressive is a sign of poor training.
While a dog biting someone can be a sign of aggression or fear, it doesn’t automatically mean the dog is dangerous. Many factors, such as the dog’s breed, upbringing, and training, as well as the context of the situation, need to be considered.
Was it a pitbull? On a ranch?
She probably killed a collie.
She’s done. She would hurt Trump
