Mehul Prajapati, an Indian-origin data scientist working at TD Bank in Canada, found himself at the center of controversy after a video surfaced showcasing his approach to acquiring "free food" from food banks designated for students in Canada.
In the viral video, Prajapati discussed his method of obtaining food from charity food banks meant to support students in Canadian colleges and universities. He displayed his haul, which included a variety of items like fruits, vegetables, pasta, and canned goods obtained from these food banks. The video quickly drew backlash online, with many expressing outrage at Prajapati's actions, highlighting that food banks are intended to assist individuals facing financial hardship, not to be exploited by those who are financially stable.
The swift and strong public response prompted TD Bank to take decisive action. An update shared by the same user who posted the video revealed that Prajapati had been terminated from his position at TD Bank. A screenshot of an email from the bank confirmed his dismissal, stating that Prajapati "no longer works at TD."
The incident sparked important discussions about ethics and the responsible use of resources meant for vulnerable populations. It emphasized the critical role of food banks in supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity, particularly during challenging economic times.
As the video continues to circulate online, it has prompted broader conversations about the appropriate use of charitable resources and the impact of unethical behavior on public trust. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding ethical standards and ensuring that resources are distributed equitably to those who genuinely need them.

Indians are not very ethical.
They can barely speak English and have low IQs.
LOL. Trudeau seems like a really nice guy. But his policies are every bit as nutty as his dad’s, whether Fidel or Pierre. Given the matinee idol looks, my guess is Fidel.
No wonder the wife left him.
[No wonder the wife left him.]
“Abe Reles himself died after suspiciously falling from a window.”
The Epstein of his day.
As Vox Day would say, he has to go back.
“What laws or charity rules did this guy break?”
Buying at thrift stores even if you can afford expensive stores violates the same laws as his actions.
From ‘Animal House’ to OhCanada do gooders : “...ya mohron..”
Really?
check out India
Not smart to video himself in that situation.
It may be ‘legal’, but it looks like mooching, or taking what is not meant for you. He was so proud of his ‘booty’.
Ethical standards 2024; What’s that?
He’s far from alone.
We had a food bank once a month in the church near us in the Upstate NY town we lived in.
The line of cars was long and there were some pretty pricey vehicles in that lineup.
No way they needed the food bank to feed themselves driving something like that.
The grade school right next door to my condo complex has a Food Bank and there are more than a few Mercedes, BMWs and Teslas in the quarter-mile line!
That may be. But he’s a data scientist behaving in a low-trust manner, as befits a low trust society.
I miss George Kastanza in Seinfeld. This scenario must have been on an episode! “Was that wrong???”
The guy was probably Jonesing for the free food that Sikh temples in India will give out to all comers. Yeah, that’s the ticket, it was for religious reasons: all in reverence and homage to his upbringing and culture.
And get murdered by a 3rd worlder... Hey, that's just as accurate.
But civilized people do not do things like that.
And the bank decided they did not need that kind of publicity.
I had Indian co-workers that ate beef.
