Sen. Tom Cotton doubles down on comments urging people to 'forcibly remove' protesters blocking traffic

Sen. Tom Cotton on Tuesday doubled down on comments urging people delayed by traffic stemming from pro-Palestinian demonstrations to "forcibly remove" some protesters who are blocking streets.

"Absolutely, I support people, if they’re blocked by traffic, by pro-Hamas vigilantes in the street, they should get out of their cars, they should move them to the side of the road, and they should let traffic continue," Cotton, R-Ark., told NBC News on Tuesday.

Asked whether he was calling for violence against protesters, Cotton said he wasn't.

"I’m saying that if people are trying to get to work or pick up their kids from school or take a sick kid to the doctor and you have pro-Hamas vigilantes blocking the streets, they should get out and move those people off the streets," Cotton said. “The police will get there eventually. But a lot of damage will be done in the meantime."......

“If something like this happened in Arkansas, on a bridge there, let’s just say I think there’d be a lot of very wet criminals that have been tossed overboard — not by law enforcement, but by the people whose road they’re blocking,” Cotton said.

Protesters blocking traffic should be criminally responsible for all damages and injuries, just like when someone is killed during a robbery.

Also it a driver runs over a protester it is the protester's fault.

If you ever run over one of them, don’t stop until you make it to the nearest cop shop.

Cotton should write a law that explicitly allows this.

If someone dies because they can’t get to the hospital, the protesters should be charged with manslaughter.

What they need is to have their damn faces broken. You know, the old fashioned way.

Exactly. They need to be charged even if people don’t get to the hospital in time. A delay precludes immediate treatment that would lessen the effects of a heart attack or ischemic strokes. What if a woman is in labor, can’t get 911 and the baby is in the breech position?

Half a dozen shut down a highway for hours. The cops were there, but did nothing. It’s as if they were protecting the “protesters”. Would they have prevented concerned citizens from removing said protesters? I generally support the blue, but this could be a defining situation.

If confronted by leftish vermin blocking the road then shift into 4WD low and proceed. Period.

” Cotton should write a law that explicitly allows this. “

Cotton is like a lot of the keyboard warriors.

Big talk, but no action on his part.

If someone does run over protestors, Cotton will be nowhere to be found.

Don’t take advice from elites who hate you, like Cotton.

People who take vigilante action against Regime approved protests will end up like the J6 people, or the Canadian truckers.

Hmmm ... that brings up the issue of jurisdiction and authority. Congress probably has the authority to pass such legislation regarding Interstate and US highways ... other roads should probably be left to the several States.
