The final coal-fired power plants in New England are slated to shutter in the coming years, making it the second region to phase out the energy source that powered the U.S. economy for decades.

I still view all lakes are “farmed fishing areas”, and only eat wild caught* fish, as if even those are safe, which they likely aren’t, given that the sea isd pretty much a sewer for dumping so much sewage etc into, for decedes.
“I still hope that one day it will happen though...And America will become America again....”
I would love for that to be the reality. What I’m seeing is the left importing millions of “newcomers” that will re-make America into exactly what they have escaped from.
At 75 years old, I doubt I’ll see it return, but I really hope for my kids and grandkids....
#ing Rats
The greenie weenies are using taxpayer money to pay owners of coal fired plants to shut down.
Because they too are getting paid to “not care about it”
Idiots.
I don’t know if Maine has any coal fired plants, but it is the mostly forested state in the country....91% of the state is woods.
Most people have wood burning-stoves or fireplaces here, and burn seasoned hardwood to supplement their heating. Most homes also have furnaces, which burn home heating oil.
The idiot governor here in Maine has been pushing those damn windmills and solar farms, yet the electric rates just keep rising.
“At 75 years old, I doubt I’ll see it return, but I really hope for my kids and grandkids....”
Understood. I think that, no matter what happens, our best hope is for the kids and grandkids to hold fast to their Christian faith in God and in Jesus as their savior. Past that, nothing really matters... comparatively. But that’s just me.
Well said.
Don’t you just hate it, when global warming causes all this cold weather? /S
Maybe then, they wish they were burning coal.
We’re vegans! Let’s store our vegan farts for fuel. Yayyyy!
Pizza and ice cream farts are useful, too!
LOL.
Are they? I hadn’t heard that.
Or threatening/regulating them out of existence?

Coal is a major driver of global warming that must be addressed, particularly in Asia.
In 2022, worldwide coal demand reached a record high amidst a global energy crisis, and the International Energy Agency (IEA) has predicted that 2023 will yet again beat the prior year’s record.[3]
While coal demand has fallen in the US, EU, and other advanced economies, demand continues to rise in Asia, which accounts for 80% of worldwide coal use.[4]
China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines alone account for over 70% of global coal demand, offsetting decreases at the global level.[5]
Coal has been the primary fuel for electricity generation in Asia, and electricity demand in the region continues to grow due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, population growth, and rising standards of living. See Figure 1.
Eighty-four percent of the global electricity demand increase from 2015 to 2022 is attributed to Asia, according to data from Ember.[6]
Moreover, a number of coal plants are still “young” or are being newly built in the region, and could have operational lifespans lasting as late as 2060.
Oh, as long as the plants are young 2060 works. We in the West should be transitioned into third world status by then.
Unicorns! Their farts are the best of all!
