Long Island Parents Charged With Manslaughter After Toddler OD’d on Lethal Cocktail of Cocaine, Fentanyl and Heroin

A Long Island couple was indicted on manslaughter charges after their toddler allegedly overdosed on their drug stash – as the local prosecutor called for new laws to prevent similar tragedies.

Wilkens Adonis and Daryllee Leibrock, both 38, had already faced a litany of drug and weapons charges after the Jan. 3 death of 14-month-old Joseph Adonis, who was killed by a lethal cocktail of cocaine, fentanyl and heroin. But on Monday, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney announced a superseding indictment that formally charged the Holbrook couple in the child’s death.

“How many more innocent children must die for change to be enacted?” he asked. “It is well past the time for New York State legislators to wake up, put politics aside, and pass common sense legislation related to fentanyl.”

In the end, cops said they found more than an eighth of a heroin and fentanyl mixture, an eighth of cocaine, alprazolam, methadone, drug packaging materials, two digital scales, an electronic stun gun, a loaded shotgun and a rifle. Everything was lying in the open, easily accessible to the little boy and his 11-year-old sibling, investigators said. A DNA swab taken from one of the drug packages showed traces of the toddler’s DNA, authorities added.

This poor child didn't deserve this.

If your toddler gets fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, you have failed as a parent. I don't understand, this woman had additional charges, because there was a restraining order that she was not supposed to be around either child. I guess that didn't work.

The politician says how many more children have to die before lawmakers do something. How could lawmakers have done something to prevent this?

Both parents missed court dates related to misdemeanor drug charges. So, if they were jailed over that the child would be alive. But I am guessing lawmakers would never do that. I am guessing people will say these parents are victims of the WOD.

One of the major issues with fentanyl is a lack of border security. No lack of supply constantly streaming across the southern border, thanks in part to China supplying precursors.

How are we going to stop it? They will get it here one way or anther. I wish I could be more optimistic. As it is, every state confiscates enough Fentanyl to kill everyone in the U.S.

I think some people shouldn’t be allowed to have children. Yeah..a slippery slope but some people have way less parental ability than an animal in the wild.
