Gen Z Is Toxic for Companies, Employers Believe
Newsweek ^ | 03/23/2024 | Suzanne Blake

Posted on 03/23/2024 6:42:17 PM PDT by Drew68

Companies are struggling to operate as Gen Z enters the workforce at higher rates, and a growing majority of employers say the younger generation is toxic for their business.

That's the latest from a new Freedom Economy Index report conducted by PublicSquare and RedBalloon this month. In the survey, 68 percent of small business owners said Gen Zers were the "least reliable" of all their employees. And 71 percent said these younger workers were the most likely to have a workplace mental health issue.

One of the surveyed employers spoke of Gen Z's "absolute delusion, complete lack of common sense, and zero critical reasoning or basic analytical skills."

The criticism for Gen Z workers was in full force, as less than 4 percent said Gen Z was the generation that most aligns with their workplace culture, and 62 percent said Gen Z was the most likely to create division and toxicity in the workplace.

Another employer noted the generation's tendency for "expecting promotions for simply showing up every day."

The toxicity could even lead to company lawsuits, as 57 percent said Gen Z run the most risk of creating a workplace lawsuit.

Dan Space, an HR consultant who runs DanFromHR.com, said since the study reflects the feelings of small business owners, it could be skewed. These types of businesses often do not pay well or offer a high-quality company culture, he said, and Gen Z tends to look for those in any type of role or career they take on, he said.

"Gen Z is one of the most informed, confident and no BS generation because they saw what happened to the millennials before them," Space told Newsweek.

"Being told to go to college to get a great job..."

No we must not have intergenerational war. That is what the Comintern is trying to accomplish.

Don't bash Gen X, Y, Z. Show them the way.

They have legit gripes and absolutely have been abused by Boomers.

Did you "work your way through college," Mr. Boomer? Yes you see yourself as heroic for that. Well how in hell is a young person today going to do that when most leave college with the student loan debt equivalent of a mortgage to pay, in addition to the real mortgage they someday wish to assume?

And Boomers, you were not wet behind the ears and stupid and arrogant at work when you were young?

So bring the young along. Their real wages going forward are going to be much less than yours were, unless our debt gets fixed and

The far-and-away-best way to build our majority is to FLIP members of the other side. It's working with blacks and hispanics, slow but sure, as they respond to persuasion and reality.

Bring the youngsters along to our side. Don't make them permanent enemies. Show them what we know. It is hard to know without someone providing some one on one guidance, given the overwhelming communist media.

My limited exposure to this age cohort in the workplace reinforces many of the things that have been said in this article.

There’s a young female at a close friend’s workplace that could be a case study in this. She’s not stupid, but has the mental and emotional stability of a pre-teen girl. No motivation whatsoever. Constant drama about every interaction with co-workers. She’s about to get fired because she can’t even be relied on to work a full 40-hour week after eight months on the job.

She’s 22 years old and working in her FIFTH entry-level job.

She has the nerve to complain that she doesn’t get paid enough, too. LOL.

My son was born in 1997 so he’s generation Z. He’s a hard worker. In fact he got laid off and a week later already has a soft job offer on the table. I’m 59 and it took me 7 months to get another job. Granted I’m in the software business and he’s not.

He’s 26 now, got married, bought a house and has a son. In that order.

“Like ever generation, they will mature and be gradually ground down by the workplace routine.”

They said similar stuff about the boomers. Most of us turned out alright. They’re really gonna miss us soon.

Yes, and most of us learned the hard way. I got fired from a few jobs until I got right in my mind. Most of the Z’ers will come around.

10 million boomers served their country, they had the GI Bill and life experience and different attitudes and a high percentage of dads and a more masculine society.

Most of the kids today are raised by women in a world of women, daycare, school, college, work, culture, everything, and depending on the social economic class it either distorts their masculinity in a negative direction or neutralizes it with passivity and immaturity.

Nearly wiped me out after the 2008 crash

Sending out resumes was a waste of time

Had an OK job a few years ago but that’s when a woman hit my car a year into it and they laid me off because of my eyesight making me slow

I WAS accurate though

My team lead said I was in the top 1%-2% he’d seen in 20+ years.

Even my boss said there were other people no faster than me but they were grandfathered in and I was not.

it's an objective reality that Gen Z has serious issues.

This article is making the case that Gen Z is "toxic" because they refuse to be corporate drones or automatically accept whatever HR says is in their interests. They are "toxic" because if they are forced into some idiotic DEI program that targets them as the bad guy they'll just quite and go work somewhere they are valued.

I find that a welcome development.
