Funny how people support and vote for economic decay, squalor, poverty, starvation, and death.
Then act surprised when they get it.

The CIA wants me to believe this like they want me to believe Putin wears a diaper.

China is in a position to help if no one else if Cuba is on the skids.

The Chicoms have invested pretty deep into Venezuela no reason not to do the same in Cuber.

Given the timing of the article, something doesn't seem kosher, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. Russia may want to put some missiles there to give us some understanding about how it feels to have them on our doorstep. Sounds fair enough if they do.

"Russia has set its sights on broader economic and trade ties with Cuba.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said on Friday that more than 100 Russian companies had started operations in Cuba over the past year, according to the state news agency TASS."

Hurt by tightened U.S. restrictions, decaying domestic production, a weak post-COVID-19 tourism industry and indifference from its allies, the island is living through its worst economic days since the collapse of the Soviet Union more than three decades ago.

The U.S loosened for the past 3 years under Biden. Russia is distracted by their proxy war with Biden, and nobody in their right mind is interested in Cuba for "tourism". Bottom line, socialism/communism destroyed the country. If it were not for Castro, Cuba would be a thriving tourist destination that would make the bahamas blush.

Big deal, how many American cities have collapsed thanks to the RATS running them?

No doubt Mr. Biden’s regime will do all it can to prevent the collapse and preserve the communist’s power.

Once one falls, the others may just follow. The “refugees” from those places will end up destabilizing the stable islands.
Ron Paul’s prediction of a major black swan event will likely be from all of Biden’s undocumented democrats crossing the border.

There was a report last year that China had been contracted to rebuild Cuba’s train system (which is in about the shape you can imagine it is in). So yeah, there is a risk that the Cuban regime gets propped up by whatever power wants to use it as a FOB against the US. So it would be good to cultivate some sort of alternative to the Cuban government. Perhaps a coalition of Cuban-American leaders could put together a plan for seeing Cuba transition to a market economy with elections, and then infiltrate the plan into Cuba itself.

Cuban-Americans vote overwhelmingly Republican.

Cuba should declare war on Haiti and invade Haiti for their resources.

If Cuba ever does transition to a market economy, it’s occurred to me that investing in land and tourism opportunities there would be a _tremendous_ investment opportunity. South Florida is out of room (the Everglades kind of limiting what they can do down there), so I could see snowbirds flocking to the Cuban coast by the millions.

Cuba’s decline and the degradation of life there includes the moral quality of the people. With exceptions, the Cuban people today have a criminal mentality inspired by the profound criminality of the regime. At best, even with freedom a pro-US capitalist government, it will take a generation or more of physical and moral rehabilitation for Cuba to become a decent country again.

If it were a legitimate honest government, in 20+ years it would boom.

Of course Cuba can trade with other countries can they not?

Canada should be an excellent partner!
