If Cuba ever does transition to a market economy, it’s occurred to me that investing in land and tourism opportunities there would be a _tremendous_ investment opportunity. South Florida is out of room (the Everglades kind of limiting what they can do down there), so I could see snowbirds flocking to the Cuban coast by the millions.
If it were a legitimate honest government, in 20+ years it would boom.
Shock therapy was quite brutal but it worked in Russia for most part. They paid a price in the ‘90s. But they’ve adapted and pretty resilient today despite the sanctions from the West.
