Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) will not vote for his own party’s nominee for president, he said Tuesday.
The establishment politician’s statement that he will not vote for Donald Trump comes days after the former president locked up the party’s nomination. Young had indicated earlier he would not endorse Trump, but Tuesday is the first time he admitted publicly he will not even vote for his party’s standard bearer.
“At some point, principled conservatives need to incentivize our party, the Republican Party, to nominate somebody that principled conservatives can actually believe in,” Young told a local Indiana outlet. “Stated differently, I’m tired of having my vote taken for granted.”

Another RINO POS.
It’s the same way that desantis supporters say desanctimonious is the only true conservative republican presidential candidate, and they, and everyone else, should only vote for a conservative republican for president....,
never mind that it will mean biden becomes president again if they succeed in gaslighting and killing enough support for Trump with their comments....
I’m tired of RINO politicians like Senator Young always taking our vote for granted. And I’m tired of voting for guys like this and once they’re elected they always turn out as Democrat-Lite. Typical politician that goes where the wind blows.
Vote for whoever you like in the primary.
In the general election, you must vote for the party’s nominee, or leave the party. A “professional politician” certainly must know this ... or pay the price.
I’m sure his efforts to give the democrats two big wins just prior to the midterms—helped the democrats avoid a Red wave.
I am sure the democrats appreciated his efforts!
Indiana......and who else is from Indiana ? Hmmm
It’s all about more funding for the war in Ukraine for this creep. What is principled about that? He’s a bought and paid for whore disregarding what his constituents want.
The term “principled conservative” apparently means the same thing as Romney’s “severely conservative” description. I had never really heard of Todd Young before, so maybe this is the only way he can gain attention but that could backfire as he sounds like someone who needs to be primaried.
Yes, Pence was a big disappointment, but at least we have Mike Braun. He will be our next Governor, but hate to see him leave the Senate.
What a maroon.
Hoosier Republicans need to remember this in 2028 (a long way off) and end his career in politics. Just because he is the Republican nominee doesn’t mean we have to vote for him. Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander.
What principles are those, Todd? Globalism, Outsourcing, and Endless Foreign Wars?
Exactly. Take your “principled conservatism” and form your own party. The silent majority is tired of being the junior party in the coalition. Go stand on your own and you’ll see just how unpopular you and your tiny group of like-minded elitists really are.
Young just lost my vote when/if he runs for re-election.
“At some point, principled conservatives need to incentivize our party, the Republican Party, to nominate somebody that principled conservatives can actually believe in,” Young told a local Indiana outlet.
That and free pie would be dandy. Who does he suggest the Republican Party nominate that fits that description? Why didn’t that mystery person run in the primaries?
Failing that, shut the hell up.
You're enabling Biden...
Romney was a severe conservative.
a prima-donna - it’s all about “me.” Who cares if the nation falls apart! - I despise people like him.
I am sure Mike Pence would be an acceptable candidate to him. Sad.
Sounds like a confused guy.
Voters pick the nominee. Voters are free to vote for their favorite.
Party members don’t have to align with the majority of voters from their party, but there needs to be a reason other that being miffed at being left out and “taken for granted.”
There isn’t anything wrong with silent dissent, either Todd.
