A line of children's outfits laid along Santa Cruz County beaches. The line of clothes stretched along a three-mile-long line that started at Sea Cliff State Beach and ended at Seascape Park Beach.
The group behind the display consists of various community activists and organizations that support a ceasefire in Gaza. Organizers said the 13,000 outfits represent the number of children that have been killed in the conflict.
According to UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, more than 12,300 children have died in Gaza between October 2023 and February 2024.
"We've had a lot of people come by and ask us questions about what we're trying to do here, and when they realize what we're doing, I think, you know, it's been very grounding for some people. It's been very emotional, but for some, it's been also a healing experience as well," said Nadine, a community activist and organizer for the ceasefire display.
Saturday's demonstration caught the attention of many beachgoers, some supporting Palestine and others supporting Israel. However, organizers said the display was not meant to cause conflict but rather to share the message of a ceasefire in Gaza.

Which beaches in the area have been closed for two years? I don’t remember that. Some of them do rate poorly in the annual review, but I think the worst one is near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

Why is it that when they ask for a ceasefire in Gaza, they only ask for it from Israel but it does not occur to them to ask for a ceasefire from the terrorists?
If you or I did that, for whatever reason, we would be arrested for littering.
