News From the Near Future: Putin Wins Election in a Landslide!
Hot Air ^ | 15 March 2024 | John Sexton

Voting in the Russian presidential election began this morning and will end Sunday. At that point, Putin's victory will be announced and he will start his 5th term as president. The vote tally doesn't really matter. It will be whatever the Kremlin decides it should be. Having killed off his only two real opponents in the past year, Navalny and Prigozhin, he probably feels like he earned it.

The presidential vote in Russia, which began Friday and lasts through Sunday, features the trappings of a horse race but is more of a predetermined, Soviet-style referendum.

President Vladimir V. Putin, 71, will undoubtedly win a fifth term, with none of the three other candidates who are permitted on the ballot presenting a real challenge. The main opposition figure who worked to spoil the vote, Aleksei A. Navalny, a harsh critic of Mr. Putin and the Ukraine war, died in an Arctic prison last month...

Two candidates opposed to the war were disqualified. A veteran politician, Boris Nadezhdin, alarmed the Putin administration when tens of thousands of people across Russia lined up to sign petitions required for him to run. The Kremlin invalidated enough signatures to bar him.

Navalny was a bit player in Russian politics, but the neocons have transformed him into a great opposition leader. Nobody showed up for Navalny's revolution three years ago:

Agree....people here don’t really care. Putin has been good for Russia. It’s not our country....and we have no business saying who runs it. It’s not the same Russia of days gone by.

As has been stated on this forum many times before it’s who counts the votes that counts.

Not surprising. Talk to any Russian overseas. They have nothing but good things to say about Putin.

Winning elections is easy when you have your political opponents killed off.

As I see it the difference between the U.S. and Russia is that Russia is stuck with a nationalist for a dictator and we are stuck with a dictator who despises American nationalism (Obama). and who is deliberately and clearly engaged in destroying the U.S.

At least Ruzzia has the appearance of elections.
YouCrayne cancelled their elections.
Both Countries are run by Dictators.
Both Countries are Corrupt.

Thoughts on Putin and Russia......

Vladimir Putin thinks of himself as the replacement as Czar of the Romanov dynasty. The nobility of War and Peace was killed off by the revolution and is now replaced by the Oligarchy.

The Russian are still just serfs and actually like being serfs. The Church pretends to be relevant and needed.

It ain’t so. Mother Russia is dying a sad and permanent death

Putin has been good for Russia

Sure, just ignore the part about "killing off a whole generation for meager gains in a non-winnable war"

Stupid and arrogant are not qualities of a good leader

Hasn’t lost it yet

They still control 5/6

Not great, but hardly “lost”

Which date is the election in Youcrayne being held on? Oh, wait a minute. . .

Polls I've seen indicate that if the hyper-corrupt Zelenskyyy™ regime allowed them to be held, the gay-dancing, greasy globalist grifter would get smoked. That would mark the end of the leftist/globalist/WEF/neocon experiment there and the end of the gravy train for corruptocrats in Youcrayne and in the West.
