Biden’s Voting History With Social Security and What It Means for Millennials (Very bad!)

President Joe Biden campaigned on protecting Social Security and has slammed what he calls Republican efforts to gut the program through sunsetting, increasing the retirement age and reducing benefits.

But the president has nearly a half-century of history dating to at least 1975 of voting or advocating for many of the same attacks on Social Security that he now warns could come from a Republican takeover — and both his historical record and current policies will affect today’s younger generations as they age into the program.

Problem is, they can come for more than your 401K, as tyrants have proven in the past. Without Law & Order, your money does not ensure you a safe & comfortable retirement. Heck they can ruin you by hyperinflationary policies as well.

You and I are paying current retirees. The money we pay is not ours. I’m not sure why people don’t understand the program. It’s not a savings account.

I understand that but it's also not supposed to be a gift, it's a ponzi scheme where people join and they use the "investment" of the people who join later to pay out the people who joined first so it appears to be a really viable and good "investment" but it's all smoke and mirrors and there is no money in there. Eventually it will all collapse because ponzi schemes all do. But since you are FORCED to be a participant you hope it lasts longer than you do.

Sometimes people say things like 'I paid into it and expected to get money back' with regards to social security and it doesn't mean they are dumb and don't get it, they are just talking about it in a simple way that doesn't bog things down. We DID pay into it and we DO expect to get some money back from it.
