President Joe Biden campaigned on protecting Social Security and has slammed what he calls Republican efforts to gut the program through sunsetting, increasing the retirement age and reducing benefits.
But the president has nearly a half-century of history dating to at least 1975 of voting or advocating for many of the same attacks on Social Security that he now warns could come from a Republican takeover — and both his historical record and current policies will affect today’s younger generations as they age into the program.

I plan to take SS as quickly as possible before libtards raise the min age to collect and rip off retirees
Yahoo Liberal Leftists buying a clue these days?
Well, stopped clock ⏰⏰⏰ and all that...
What they're likely to do is apply a haircut across the benefits for everyone. Maybe even a higher tax amount for those who actually planned for retirement and have at least a modest nest egg.
All my life, at least since the 80s, I’ve heard over and over that Social Security was going to be bankrupt a few years before I retired (which means basically now as I’m less than 10 years away now). I’ve paid in my whole life and I still expect then to somehow deny me any benefit from it. Fortunately I planned accordingly and saved saved saved for retirement starting in my 20s. I’ll be okay but a lot of folk won’t.
I should add, I'll be okay until they come for the 401Ks, which I have no doubt they will do so people who didn't save for retirement can live off the savings of those of us who did.
We are now into the THIRD aborted generation post Roe v. Wade...millions, their children, and now their grandchildren who would be now reaching wage earning and tax paying age.
By the time Millennials are ready to retire, there will not be a United States.
Joe likely can’t remember what he actually voted for.
Even when I was too young to know the outcome in any quantitative manner of analysis, I said the deduction should be 8% instead of 7.65% once they added Medicare/Medicaid.
He’s a dem. Any time this is pointed out you’ll get a “His views have evolved” response. And that’s the end.
I wonder. Here are some headings in a thinktank study on abortion demographics:
There's also this gem: Most women who abort are educated. But then they go on to say that 91% have at least a high school diploma but only 20% have a college degree.
So it seems that abortions are mostly among unwed minority mothers who mostly have useless high school level educations.
Your mileage may vary but to me an army of kids from that environment don't seem likely to have been the ones to balance the books for the country with their significant tax contributions. This is looking at it purely from a financial perspective, I'm not saying it's not a moral tragedy. it clearly is.
Take all parts of Medicare at the same time as SS - regardless of any private insurance - or you will pay dearly later.
I’m 53, turning 54 next month. I’ll never see a dime of what I’m supposed to collect. From me, or my late wife.
That’s why I went to such extents to take of my own retirement to the point of being able to early retire. It won’t be long and I can start collecting before they cut me off and it’s just that much less I have to pull out of my 401K. It will be over $2K per month according to the SS Statement they mailed to me.
Same age, same concern.
Gen x, y, z are left holding the largest debt bombs in the history of the world and the prior gens can only snicker and laugh at their situations while enjoying their variants of socialism and entitlements. The sooner ss and the rest of such variants end, the better off future gens will be.
The saying has been since at least the 1970s, if you are a politician preparing to seek cuts in Social Security, save time by kneeling in a New York subway tunnel, bending forward and placing your tongue on the high voltage middle rail.
Rush was kinder and said “Just get a good running head start ahead of the seniors running after you.”
