I’m a doomsday prepper — here’s everything you need to know about surviving a catastrophic event

Doomsday prepping was once a concept people believed was reserved for conspiracy theorists and paranoid uncles, but fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic is leading more and more Americans to plan ahead in the event of a future catastrophe.

Amid a recovering supply chain, two brewing conflicts involving nuclear powers, hackers bent on compromising electric infrastructure, the possibility of solar flares and concerns about engineered bioweapons, Nelson said it is not unrealistic to look at the world today and say: How prepared am I to take care of my family?”

“Americans have this Armageddon-type thing where they think that there’s a secret space shuttle waiting to go get that meteor. You know, there’s always an answer somewhere. Somebody’s hidden something underground. And we’re good, right? We like to believe that our big government has got a solution for everything.”

But the truth, according to Nelson, is that while there are plans, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for any one-size problem, and the government cannot reasonably have a plan that accounts for everything.

Nelson calculated that if a freezer goes out, people will only have that food for three days. If the power goes out, Americans are now reduced to five days of food in their homes. A local suburban or urban area will also have about two weeks of food and has generators if the power goes out, but when people are dependent on storefronts, they will quickly be emptied out.

“In the event of even a temporary supply chain collapse, most homes are within two weeks of being entirely dependent on handouts from a government entity or non-government organization,” Nelson said.

“Anybody who doesn’t have 3 to 6 months of basic staples and food within your home, and the ability to grow a garden. Then what’s your plan? I mean,

“Anybody who doesn’t have 3 to 6 months of basic staples and food within your home, and the ability to grow a garden.”

If something happens to the world that completely destroys the food supply chain for 3 to 6 months then getting food is probably least of your worries.

Instead of a doomsday prepper, I'm more of a slow boil prepper. I call it that based on the modern proverb of killing a frog not by boiling the water first, but by putting him in cool water and slowly raising the temperature to boil.

Whether or not the left takes us to a Mad Max style dystopia in my lifetime (in which case I'm admittedly not ready for), I see the left already increasing the pressure bit by bit to make it harder and harder to be free, at least while also being comfortable. The same with the persecution of Christians in the U.S. (not to the level of North Korea or Iran, but bit by bit making it at least a little more uncomfortable to be a Christian in public, then a little bit more...).

Thankfully, I live in the mountains and am a junior level prepper, with enough food for five years. Water is a different story, and will require a massive hike. I feel for anyone who lives in suburbs just outside the circumference of 10MT nuke. The panic and chaos and violence will be unimaginable. Last week, when Facebook went down, my power went down a half hour later. I thought that was it per finally getting nailed on a cyber attack. Turns out, I was in a small outage, but it quickly made my mind race to what I DIDN’T yet have preps for.

*How prepared am I to take care of my family?”*

Don’t have one. Just think of those that do and will need your help.

1. Get out of the city and go rural.

The solar system I made to power my well will easily run the freezers and refrigerators forever as well as lights, and we have acreage and grow our own vegetables and have chickens too.

The time to start preparing for what appears to be inevitable was the day all the Stupid people in this country had a black marxist muslim that never had a job in his life, installed as President.

Something preppers should keep is sprouting seeds. They take up little storage space, you can freeze them for longevity, they sprout in a few days, are very nutritious when you can’t get vegetables. All you need is clean water to make them grow.

"Doomsday" will occur ONLY AFTER Jesus has taken up his saints into the air to meet him and be with him forever (1 Thess.4:17). This event will TIRGGER the "doomsday" of 7 years of wrath - a horrific time of terror and death.

Obviously that hasn't happened yet since 2 billion born-again Christians (30% of the world's 7 billion population) haven't yet disappeared the world hasn't yet plunged into WWIII - worldwide chaos, darkness, death and destruction from which there is no escape.

Although there is a coalescing happening in preparation for "doomsday", we have a ways to go yet. IMO, near the end of this century, we'll go up and it'll all come crashing down.

Antibiotics can be purchased here without a prescription

I’m currently taking them for whooping cough which I may have contracted in a recent hospital stay.

I think “teeman8r” was making a point on how things will progress when the SHTF for people who have haven’t kept quiet about it...and the have-nots figure it out.

If you’re implying that you can survive off of your neighbors food, remember he only has a two week supply which will run out the same as yours.

“Good way to get shot.”

You mean being a neighbor with food that people know about?
