Black residents of Chicago should receive reparations in the form of no property taxes, a local activist group says.
The group wants city leaders and Cook County to stop imposing the taxes on those residents who are allegedly being displaced from their homes, Fox 32 reported Monday.
Reconstruction Era Reparation Act Now (ReRaN) Founder Howard Ray said, “People lost their homes because of property taxes. Because everybody’s been overcharged.”
“So what we want to do especially for the Black community because we’re very fragile, we want to keep them and preserve them here and by doing that, we can hold onto our culture in Chicago,” he added.

Black Chicago residents Taxed out of their homes? What did they expect? Where were officials going to put the ‘newcomers’?
That’s been going on for years. Homes in the ever diminishing “White enclaves” that remain in Chicago are worth 2 to 3 times of those in the “Black enclaves” of Chicago. Therefore, the taxes are 2 to 3 times higher.....As the Democrats say in Chicago, where it’s been one-party rule since 1931 “shut up and pay your taxes....” Nuff said.
They’d better hope there aren’t a great number of fellow unbalanced and dangerously angry people like me who are triggered by “reparations” and believe it crosses the line.

The rancid state of Ill n annoyed doesn’t know how to cut taxes or trim budgets. Tax and spend is their addiction. If they eliminate prop taxes for black residents ( can’t blame them for complaining although they vote for it) but the city and state will tax the other residents in greater % to make it ‘balance’. Recipe for doomed failure or I should say even more of it.
