NEW YORK — Gov. Kathy Hochul has pulled back the big guns in her subway safety surge, ordering the National Guard not to carry military-grade assault rifles when they check riders’ bags for weapons.
Many of the 750 troops Hochul deployed Wednesday to check riders’ backpacks hauling laptops or school books or bags carrying groceries carried M4 carbines, military assault rifles whose 5.56mm rounds can defeat some body armor.

Who uses the military for police? Oh yeah, Third World dicktatorship shitholes, that’s who. Who is filling the NY National Guard? Soon it will be Wetback gangs, Chinese military, Third World bastards who hate Americans. Just one step at a time.
Not just that.
Fencing around DC buildings for SOTU was to get people used to accepting anti-Deplorable military actions later this year. 2nd time for that kind of fencing.
And later it will be the sending out of the National Guard to stop peaceful protests by Deplorables or rallies in favor of Trump. Used to it on subways.
Getting people used to it as if they are all less than human beings who can be trained to accept being submissive-—as the Covid lockdowns and mask training. Working.
Now NYPD can watch on TV as they haul others into court and military review boards for not being gentle enough to felons.
Such a good look for any city...military patrolling the streets....The idiots of NY voted for this and will continue to wonder what’s going on in the city....stupid voters elected stupid leaders you get chaos. This is what you get when importing millions of migrants. Ignorant, no common sense, dont care, stupid. What will it take to get rid of the morons that have turned NY into hell????
Empty clips. No sane commander would turn out Armed pairs of guard troops into crowded subway tunnels. Same with street side squads.
DEMONRATS were crazed by Rudi Guliani’s use of stop and frisk pat down of the outer clothing for weapons to secure officer safety, which SCOTUS, in the case of Terry vs Ohio, deemed constitutional provided the officer could articulate a reasonable suspicion that the suspect so targeted was involved in criminal activity.
Random bag searches has GOT to be unconstitutional, no matter what is the rationale.
On another site, just the other day, I saw a picture of a National Guard member in the subway with a weapon, and I said I'm surprised they were allowed to have them. And now this from Hochul. RAT behavior is so predictable.
30 days after 9/11 we were in Paris every Metro station we went into had three security, 2 military with their weapons and one cop.
My uncle (National Guard) was sent to Detroit during the riots of the 60s. The thing that made him the maddest was that they weren’t allowed to have ammunition in their guns.
I don’t think this is to actually catch people with weapons. It’s to scare them into not carrying them on the subway. There’s no way they could do it comprehensibly enough.
There must have been some kind of intelligence that they haven’t told us about or they wouldn’t be doing this at all. I haven’t heard anything; it just seems to be the most likely reason.
And thus the NYC subway system becomes a Fourth Amendment-free zone.
More stupid, statist “security theater.”
No doubt, like TSA, National Guard chumps will be ordered to look into bags of grandmothers and school-children.
While we all ignore reality
I was deployed by the National Guard many times and had to haul around my M-16 without ammo. It’s pointless and all for show.
Why would a shooter waste a shot, of any sort, on anything that looks like a vest/armor/,etc. Head shots or maybe belly or thigh shots will change the attitude of the miscreant in jig time? If one can’t shoot one might want to avoid starting a fight.
The rest of the stoopid is sending Guardsmen out anyplace without their weapons. Their first charge is to defend themselves. Without that ability they are just clerks and are wasted. And Find me a guardsman who signed up to clean the subway? Taking them away from their regular jobs, for this, is outright kriminal
Makes you want to go to NY for the day. Not. What a crap hole.
“Who uses the military for police?”
Who considers the Guard as the military?
I spent time in the Guard and ammo was not allowed but some of us carried a loaded magazine anyway, which could be prevented if someone strictly enforced the no bullets rule by conducting searches with strict penalties.
Not having any ammo might be why the Guard is being told to not carry their highly sought-after automatic weapons in public and prone to any 2-bit mugger taking them, much less any size group of Guardsmen being stripped of their weapons by a hardened gang.
“National Guard not to carry military-grade assault rifles when they check riders’ bags for weapons.“
No stop and frisk which got thousands of guns off the streets but THIS was ok to do?
