Agreed.
A couple of decades ago Spring Break was a big money maker for several beach towns in Florida. The worst thing that happened was a few drunks became too rowdy, but if their friends didn’t calm them down, the cops soon did.
Now, there are fights, rapes, shootings, extensive destruction of property, and the businesses lose money on the entire event. The locals are tired of it.

Daytona Beach managed to convert the chaos into officially sanctioned, organized, promoted and encouraged fun motorcycle, truck, auto, etc. weekend rallies with a protective police presence that bring in lots of tourists bucks ...

Back when I was a kid Spring Break was a 3 day Easter holiday weekend. None of this taking flights to beach destinations for drunken cavorting around.
Correct. “Spring Break” was Easter, and nothing like whatever it is that happens now. Didn’t like the spoiled kids then, and still don’t.

The only spring break I knew was our senior trip to DC from upstate NY after Easter 1954... We didn’t call it spring break - just a SENIOR TRIP which was looked forward to for 4 years...No carousing, no drinking, no partying. Just good fun with classmates and great chaperones. Of course, at the age we were then, we couldn’t really appreciate the itinerary etc. I still have my journal of the trip. I always said we needed to go at a later age..maybe push one another in our wheelchairs? Not many left now - sad!
What do I remember most? A baseball double header with the Washington Senators and Philadelphia A’s..not on the itinerary. A visit to the US Marine Barracks to hear the Marine Band rehearsal also NOT on the itinerary. I had written ahead as class secretary to get permission which was granted to attend...a boat ride at night on the Potomac, Mt. Vernon, Bureau of Printing & Engraving, Arlington Cemetery with changing of the guard. US Capitol - don’t remember, White House - don’t remember, FBI bldg., don’t remember...That’s as far as my brain will take me in DC.
I do remember a tour of the Gettysburg Battle Field on the way down...the pretty town of Frederick, MD where we stopped for ice cream on the way down - must have been after lunch at ???? Stopped at Annapolis on the way back - didn’t see much to be impressed by..it was just a fast stop, no tours.
Memories from those years are still crisp and great!!!
There’s also shootings, overdoses and rapes… Nobody wants that in their backyard.
The gibsmedats are gonna have to find another place to go jungle. I suggest the Gaza Strip.... lots of “fireworks “, chicks in birkinis, amazing pita foods and zero supervision by the locals 😉

“They” are not the only ones ruining Spring break for anyone. I have relatives in the Miami area who are small business owners-and this is not about any race or ethnic group-we are Hispanic, BTW-it is about kids of all groups who have not been taught proper respect for the property of others, simple good manners, etc-things that are particularly important when you are a GUEST in another city/state-like you don’t get f’ed up drunk in public and get in fights, bother/accost strangers on the street/beach, etc, wreck bars and hotel rooms, steal from businesses. If you do, you get arrested, fined and probably have to cough up money for any damages you caused.
Part of the blame belongs to schools and other liberal constructs-but mostly it belongs to parents for not doing their job. If I lived in Miami, I’d be all for this tightening of the screws, too-hopefully, it will keep the theft and assault crimes down and save businesses a lot of money in damages. And BTW-boomers were kids when the civil rights movement happened...

In the 1960’s, when I was a teenager, Southern California youngsters flocked to the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where Easter Vacation was known as “Bal Week.” We preferred to take a family vacation to the San Jacinto Mountains or to Martinez Lake, Ariz. on the Colorado River. Not long afterwords, “the River” was discovered by SoCal spring breakers.
It is no longer Spring Break from college. It is now just a wild out of control party for the Low IQ crowd.
We have a black underclass crime and behavioral problem in America.
If this doesn’t get resolved, you’re going to see separation return.
Nobody wants to be around these ferals.
