US Supreme Court rules for Trump in historic 14th Amendment ballot eligibility case

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of Donald Trump in a historic case challenging his eligibility to seek the Republican presidential nomination under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment due to his actions around the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The court was unanimous in reversing the unprecedented decision out of Colorado that would kick Trump off the ballot under the provision after a state trial court found he participated in "insurrection" on Jan. 6 through incitement.

“For the reasons given, responsibility for enforcing Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates rests with Congress and not the States," the Supreme Court opinion read. "The judgment of the Colorado Supreme Court therefore cannot stand. All nine Members of the Court agree with that result.”

On holding that only Congress had the power to enforce the provisions under Section 5 of the amendment, it said its decision would apply nationwide.

"Any state enforcement of Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates, though, would not derive from Section 5, which confers power only on '[t]he Congress.' As a result, such state enforcement might be argued to sweep more broadly than congressional enforcement could under our precedents. But the notion that the Constitution grants the States freer rein than Congress to decide how Section should be enforced with respect to federal offices is simply implausible," the court said.

Trump quickly celebrated the decision, writing on his social media platform it was a "BIG WIN" for the country.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said that she was "disappointed" in the ruling.

Kind of a no-brainer. You can’t have 50 States independently deciding who may or may not be on a Federal ballot. It would be a clown show based on political bias State by State.

This should have never become such a crisis to come before the Supreme Court, imho.

I'm glad to see the decision, but the people playing these games are begging justice for their malfeasance. It needs to stop.

Too bad these idiots don’t read the constitution. Whiten I read the 14th amendment, section 5 stood out like a sore thumb. A lot of Time and money would be saved along with agrivation of the stupid state.

Democrats have finally gone so far into the TDS HATE AMERICA phsychosis that they’ve found a way to bring the entire SCOTUS and our Country together.

Now it’s up to the length of time it takes for every state that wants to get challenges to the SCOTUS on other angles of the situation. Things like packing their electors with liberals and or changing the way they can vote, finding things wrong with the rump team for filing, and/or doing what happened in 2020 when votes ended up missing, taken to Canada, having people vote more than once or in the next state to the west...lots of possibilities. And while the fire is burning like in Rome, the city will burn.

Notice how the article does not mention that the opinion was a unanimous, 9-0, decision.

Strike two for Nikki Haley, strike one was overwhelming rejection from the voters. Strike three will be failure of the Uniparty/Soros kangaroo courts.

Notice how they avoid mentioning that the ruling was 9-0, so as to give the impression that it was just a narrow margin of Neanderthals who smacked down the corrupt Colorado Soros stooge.

This was just a trial run anyway, as keeping Trump off of PRIMARY election ballots was never going to have any real impact.

I’d love to see a list of all of the 9-0 Supreme Court decisions. I don’t think they’re common.

Yes- they said it was “unanimous” which most dumb Americans will NOT know means all 9 justices concur and assented to the decision.

Words like unanimous are too big for the dummies in the dem mob world.

It is so obvious what is going on. The numnuts in Colorado got a little full of their Trump hatred, and threw a wrench in the big plan.

But this actually worked out well for the big plan.

Now the Supremes can say they are "neutral" and stood up for Trump, blah blah blah. But the real political assassination of Trump is coming. This opens up the door to try him where they really want to try him. In the Washington DC star chamber. He stands no chance.

Trump is not going to win in a DC court. Doesn't mean it's right. Doesn't mean it is just. The Colorado people outside of "the swamp" moved up the timeline. But the swamp used Colorado to give the Supreme Court some political cover.

The people running the country want Trump no where near the presidency. And they are going to nail his ass to the cross, so to speak. Show some respect to the enemy. They know what they are doing, and no one is going to stop them.
