The University of Florida is firing all employees in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) positions and administrative appointments, according to a memo the university sent on Friday.
"To comply with the Florida Board of Governor’s regulation 9.016 on prohibited expenditures, the University of Florida has closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, eliminated DEI positions and administrative appointments, and halted DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors," the memo states.
"Under the direction of UF Human Resources, university employees whose positions were eliminated will receive UF’s standard twelve weeks of pay. These colleagues are allowed and encouraged to apply, between now and Friday, April 19, for expedited consideration for different positions currently posted with the university. UF HR will work to fast-track the interview process and provide an answer on all applications within the twelve-week window." Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has made halting DEI a cornerstone of his efforts to overhaul education in the state, wrote on X, "Florida is where DEI goes to die." The memo added that the Office of the Chief Financial Officer would reallocate the approximately $5 million in funds previously reported to Tallahassee for DEI expense into a faculty recruitment fund.

One of the very few. He has transformed Florida and brought back the concept of the power of the States.
Perhaps it is in the employment contract which permits people in positions that are phased out to re-apply for a new position. This contractual provision is called, “The Transitioning Clause.”
BYE BYE BIGOTS. DESANTIS FOR VP AND FOLLOWING 8 YEARS!
Females and non whites that can’t compete for real work positions.
That’s why I like him.
Well said.

Suspect you’re correct but hiring a former DEI specialist is a recipe for disaster since they will bring all their DEI baggage with them. Remember these DEI employees believe their crap.
Most will leave now that their no-show gigs are gone.
Christopher Rufo has been doing amazing work on exposing the DEI corruption in colleges. I give him credit for this development.
He’s one of the best. My governor is Abbott. He is allegedly trying to abolish the school portion of the property tax assessment which would certainly be helpful.
Right. They’ll be back, just in different positions.
“Most will leave now that their no-show gigs are gone.”
Don’t bet on it, most of these roaches are on a mission.
“ Since the early 2010s, there has
been an increased emphasis on
accountability to ensure that that
diverse groups are represented at
all economic and social levels,
often using social media to hold
government, corporations, and
civil society accountable”
So 1960s was the actual origin but it became an official thing in the 2010s….in other words:
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA admin.
DeSantis was simply intelligent enough to sign the legislation.
Don't get me wrong, I like him. I like him right where he is, for now.
The article title is misleading (and it may have been pointed out in the first 55 comments by someone). The article notes that the employees are being given the chance to apply for other positions. So they may continue working in the system where the can clandestinely do things to promote their agendas.
What DeSantis and Florida need to do is go in with an ax cutting useless colleges programs like UF’s program “Center for Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship” that its College of Arts program offers. This should be done in conjunction with a hiring freeze so the rats cannot sneak back. That is where the true cancer in college education lies.
Once the social sciences are pruned of nutjobs they hector other colleges the other STEM colleges would probably get brave enough to eject their embedded DEI moles as well.
DIE DEI, DIE!
