They will go into extreme western Ukraine to free up Ukrainian troops there so they can be deployed to the front line

IMO (Been saying that since last summer as the “next step”)

For some reason, a rogue missile will be sent in their direction, perhaps killing a few NATO and EU troops in the process, think Gulf of Tonkin only this time with missiles that actually land and kill people.

“I will limit myself to say that these theses (in preparation for the Paris meeting) imply a number of NATO and EU member states are considering that they will send their troops to Ukraine on a bilateral basis,” Fico told a televised briefing following a meeting of Slovakia’s security council.

Troops that cannot make up for a lack of artillery shells.

Ukraine needs a supply of 8,000 155mm artillery shells per week.

The “typical” average weight of a 155mm artillery shell, is 100 lbs.

The European nations can do whatever they want. Not one US soldier’s foot on the ground in Ukraine.

To little, too late. The definition of Stupidity: 1) NATO 2) Collective West.

It is obvious today that the Ukies should have began negotiations a long time ago, instead the brain dead Ukies put their trust in a brain dead, senile old man.

Fact is this war ends when Vlad says so, Unconditionally, to stop the western war cheerleaders from ever pulling a stupid stunt like this ever again.

I don’t see a problem here. The NATO folks will probably just be advising the Ukrainian military. But of course the NATO folks will need a secure base. So add force protection, including a combat air patrol.

Oh, wait. I do see a problem here, a big problem. From the movie “The Bedford Incident”:

(A US destroyer is tracking a Soviet sub. The destroyer has just armed an anti-submarine rocket.)

Commodore Schrepke: This is insane!
Captain Finlander: Now don’t worry, Commodore. The Bedford’ll never fire first. But if he fires one, I’ll fire one.

Ensign Ralston: [launching the rocket] Fire One!

“This thing may yet go nuclear.”

And it may go away. These troops, as they are called, could be there to assist in the brokerage of a surrender. There are many points and issues that will be needed to be settled before the smoke is allowed to clear. A lot of them that were what started the engagement like natural resourses, the means to keep them operational, ports for trade, and how the Russian government is going to delve out all they are going to have to share with the Ukrainians. If the locals go on strike because they feel they are not getting a fair shake, and everything shuts down, what good was it for Russia to go in there?

The cooperation of the two countries to work these problems, many I didn’t mention, is going to be important for the success of the region as time goes on. In some cases, like in Korea, armistice can take longer than the war itself.

Would the Russians find such a move to be provocative? And respond unpleasantly to it?

Tell me why again, that the entire Western world cannot outproduce and supply artillery shells and field pieces in EXCESS of the Russians? Assuming we really want to and aren’t just blathering.

American involvement in a war between the NATO powers and Russia would enable the arrest and imprisonment of antiwar dissents and effect the shutdown of the largely antiwar alt-right media. There is a lot of precedent for suppression of such dissent during the Civil War and the World Wars. It would also allow for the reactivation of the draft, to force normal young men into the military. I doubt that the Deep State is so blind that they think that the Russians, Chinese, and Iranians can be defeated with leftist women and soy boys.

Dec 7 (Reuters) - Kyiv has agreed with two American firms to jointly manufacture vital 155mm artillery shells in Ukraine . . .

Just speculating - this could take the form of SAM systems, which most NATO members would like to hold on to on a permanent basis. The effect would be to backstop Ukrainian air defense of, say, Kiev and Odessa and the Danube corridor.

If they go in and make themselves legitimate troop representatives of a NATO nation, we are under no obligation to defend them.
