Nobel Prize winner Robert Aumann commented on the issue of the hostages at the Arutz Sheva - Israel National News Jerusalem Conference.
“Consider the ultimatum game,” Professor Aumann began, referencing a known economics problem. “Two players will get ten thousand shekels if they can agree on how to divide it. One suggests splitting it evenly. The other The other insists on taking at least nine thousand shekels. The first player will realize that even though such a demand is irrational, he will still profit by agreeing, and so the rational first player will agree to the terms set by the irrational second player. This is the current situation between Hamas and Israel.”
“Hamas, even though they are the irrational party, will make out with more. I hope that they do not actually do so, but they are acting in an irrational manner to get more, and we are acting in a rational manner.”
“Moshe Dayan said something similar after the Six Day War, that we need to act irrationally to achieve maximum results.”

The rational thing is to destroy this enemy or you will have more October 7ths. The Arabs have needed more than a military humiliation, they need an ass kicking that breaks their hearts in an existential way. Like Japan and Germany got from us.

Exactly. If Hamas is left even partially intact, they will claim it as a victory, and start reasserting themselves, and building up to do it all over again, and the Gazans will still be scared into doing their bidding. The hostages may or not be released in one piece. Sinwar and his whole f@#$ing organization must be destroyed.
That assumes the game ends there. It doesn’t.
This is a finite game and this was disposed of long ago. Life for a civilization is an infinite game. Unless you are anahiliated, say like the Mongols did to some offending tribes, you always have a next turn. We defeated Germany and Japan totally, and yet they are still playing prominently upon the international stage.
But Hamas has shown through these kinds of antics that they are a player we can no longer live with because they are bent, not on the best for the Palestinains, but total annihilation of the other side, with using instruments provided by us the long suffering productive US citizenry.

I wrote about two months ago:
Perhaps Israel should divide up the Gaza strip and then try to buy the hostages freedom off of small groups at say 10,000 Euros or dollars a hostage.
The hostage holders might also be given the options of jail time with a 60% sentence reduction or two hours to escape without tracking (and also a 40% possible sentence reduction if they give their DNA).
This would have to be compared to the current policy, which probably is to send the hostages out and surrender or to take your chances in combat with the IDF.
Now many people may rightly object to handing $10,000 to evil people, but one has to consider that it may be the only way to save the life of a human being.
It should be borne in mind that HAMAS may not hold all the hostages itself.
Holding hostages is a war crime.
Therefore, HAMAS might let independent groups continue to hold the hostages.
The atrocities were the result of hate fomented by the press and educational systems.
The journalists and teachers of Gaza need to face the same justice Joseph Goebbels might have faced.

Israel should assume all the hostages have been murdered, and continue to rub out any vestige of ham ass today, tomorrow, and forever.

Israel’s 9/11
The Israelis used to have a thing called the Sampson tactic. If an Israeli was taken hostage, they would flood the area with tanks and troops and kick in every door and level every building in the area until the hostage was returned. Make taking hostages too costly to risk.
Hamas’ stated goal is to kill every single Jew. Trained up from childhood. They are like rabid animals, just need to be put down.
