Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee has set a March 1 hearing date for final arguments on whether District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the election interference case against former President Donald Trump.
The hearing, the result of which could see Ms. Willis replaced with a different prosecutor, is set for 1 p.m., and is expected to be live-streamed, as with most Fulton County proceedings.
Ms. Willis testified before Judge McAfee on Feb. 15–16, where she faced heated questioning over her relationship with top prosecutor Nathan Wade, amid allegations that Ms. Willis benefited financially from the relationship.
Defense attorneys have alleged that Ms. Willis began her romantic relationship with Mr. Wade in 2019, before she hired him for the high-profile Trump prosecution so they could both benefit financially from taxpayer funds. The attorneys have argued that hiring what would have been her boyfriend at the time amounted to a conflict of interest and so she should be disqualified from the case.

Honestly, I can see this going either way.
I am leaning toward nothing happening to her and she will be allowed to continue her lawfare against Trump.

The small donation he gave may be nearly a requirement in the Atlanta legal community. It isn’t as if he donated $2000 or more.

Should be easy to prove. Receipts showing two room charges should clear that up. Wait,..what?...They can only produce a receipt for one room? Must have lost the other.

It is badly written and the evidence she provides to disprove the allegations doesn’t match up.

Willis responds to the affair cell data by claiming her calendars/emails prove she wasn’t with Wade.
There’s a big problem.
The hook-ups took place on Sept 11-12 and Nov 30 of 2021.
The calendars/emails aren’t for those dates.
So who does Pres. Trump go to to have a hearing on whether Judge McAfee should be disqualified\recused because he once worked under Fani ?
The very fact that the allegations were made, and appear credible, should be disqualifying. A criminal defendant should not have to incur the additional expense of proving the prosecutor is corrupt. It’s an embarrassment to the nation. Justice should not depend on who the judge and prosecutor are, but it does, and very much so.
A whistleblower? Calling the Congressional committee?
That’s a shame. Should be finding a way for that ‘whistleblower’ to testify in the court case, not the Congressional circus...
I don’t have a lot of confidence in this judge. He may reason that getting Trump, an existential threat to democracy in America, is more important than indiscretions by Fani and Nathan—instead of charging them with perjury he could just give them the benefit of the doubt (bad memories about the exact timeline). If he does decide Fani has to be removed from the case, he may be trying to put in someone who can pick up from where Fani left off (instead of starting over). But I’m not a lawyer and don’t know if that is possible.
Oh, my. The plot thickens yet again. She might have a point about the lack of discovery regarding the phone records. Is this the Mittelstadt she claims wasn’t properly documented as an expert?

I’m still confident he is going to rule she and her office are conflicted in proceeding with the Trump (and other defendants) case.
