The city of Chicago on Tuesday sued six major oil companies and the primary fossil fuel lobbying group, alleging they funded and planned a campaign of climate change denial that directly affects the city’s residents.
In the lawsuit, the city accused BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, Phillips 66, Shell, and the American Petroleum Institute (API) of misleading the public about the impact of their products and of contributing to the effects of climate change on Chicago.
These impacts include unsafe summer temperatures, an increase in extreme weather, shoreline erosion and susceptibility to disasters such as flash flooding in basements on the city’s West Side, according to the lawsuit. As a result, the city says, climate mitigation and response projects in low-income communities have cost it nearly $200 million.

Legal Science?
lawsuit provides a cover for payoffs they are demanding.
Stop selling petroleum products to Chicago.
Lawfare has succeeded welfare as the leftist pursuit of excellence.
How do they prove that when climate is a natural thing built into the planet and CO2 is a Life gas
Let me know when Pritzker gives back all the money the state raked in from gas taxes (which of course he raised).
No petroleum products should be delivered to Shitcago....ever.
Shitcago, NYC, along with others like it, should become the “Bud Light” of big cities....LOL
This could be a good thing, assuming there is a fair trail because it will bring glow-bull warming to a legal test where they have to prove it exists. They are going against companies with deep pockets in the legal department and it could be a good fight all the way the the Supremes.
And yes, the good people of Chitcago voted for this. Would Al Capone be proud of his followers turning communist? I doubt it.
I really wish these companies would have a spine and when the suit is filed, discontinue business with the city and in the city. Turn off the gas, diesel and natural gas. If these big 6 did that, the city will come to a halt and likely freeze.
Lawsuit will be dropped in days.
Such lawfare is a form of taxation. They can’t raise tax rates, but they can sue for the funds.
Yes, oil companies should abandon states that want to do this.
Especially natural gas. During the winter.
I’d agree...either shutdown the delivery of oil/gas to the city, or charge a special fee that makes people want to leave the city.
The big oil companies have been taken to court repeatedly on charges like this. The cases have been routinely thrown out. This one will be also.

Who did Nazi this coming?.............................
Should they win, I foresee a huge abandonment by big oil in major cities. Fewer gas stations.....gas station deserts..Ha! They deserve it. Let them work with electric buses, trains and EVs then. Quickest, fastest way to empty the city of real workers.
Chicongo.
I feel that if you tax something, you approve of it.
