… he meets a small group of billionaires with heavy investments in the tech sector…proceed to ask him which remote location would be the best place to build their doomsday shelters: New Zealand or Alaska? And if they hired armed guards to protect these compounds, how could they ensure their loyalty? (Would you, for example, withhold food from them, or make them wear disciplinary collars?) … could they insulate themselves from the people who would inevitably seek out their refuge?
…The Mindset, broadly defined, is the tendency to see human interests as subservient to those of technological progress… “technopoly”: the “submission of all forms of cultural life to the sovereignty of technique and technology.”….
Thus, we see why Elon Musk is obsessed with laying the groundwork for his extraplanetary colony; why Jeff Bezos wants to move heavy industry into orbit to keep the supply lines running if the planet is destroyed; why Mark Zuckerberg is trying to dial himself into metaverse; or why Ray Kurzweil wants to upload his consciousness to a cloud. All of them are adherents of the Mindset; … that they can shield themselves from disaster and then remake the world to their liking. The future of technological progress, Rushkoff argues, is now an experimental endgame in which the wealthiest and most powerful race to find the escape hatch; it is less about raising up humanity than rising above the rest of us.
… by appealing to the rich and exalting their inventions, we “perpetuate the myth that only a technocratic elite can possibly fix our problems,”… It also encourages a gamified vision of life: regarding the world as a kind of system that can be hacked or rebooted if we just grant those with the power to do so unlimited resources to carry out their plans.

AMEN!
also when the USA falls other dominoes and they will find themselves without wealth. After if the USA no longer exists, your dollars are worthless
Check out the podcast in post 10.
It is not that you are doing anything wrong but you may be playing the wrong game.
“if they hired armed guards to protect these compounds, how could they ensure their loyalty?”
Have the guards bring their family during the bug-out.
Snowpiercer was spot on in many ways.
Everything depends on the amount of time of the bug-out.
If it is a few weeks everything should go as planned.
However if we are talking a year or longer all bets are off. The wealth would be disconnected from its source and the bunker power structure will start to look like a prison—where the most ruthless rule—and there are no rules.
Thanks for that link...

[Snowpiercer]
I’ve never seen it. Good movie?
Pretty sure that the world’s billionaires heard about what happened 02-16-2024 in Texas.
You will be left at the bottom of that stock tank while your trusted’s are probably shorting stocks on the European and Asian markets.
I would be the most worried about what would happen inside the bunker.
Extreme stress makes all the rules go away in a hurry.
Snowpiercer is an outstanding film.

Basically, the world has been frozen over (global cooling due to a backfired anti-global warming solution) and humanity survives on a luxury train that circles the earth continuously. The inhabitants are chiefly wealthy folks who cold afford the staggering price of entry, but there is a section in the rear full of human refuse (ie normal people) who try to storm the front cars every few years.
Tilda Swinton shoulda got an Oscar for her performance.
Very disturbing, worth the watch. I dare you not to think about Bill Gates and his ilk while watching.
Book of Mathew (Chapter 6) The words of Jesus from The Sermon on the Mount...(King James Version)
Verse 19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Verse 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Verse 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
“Fixed fortifications are a monument to the stupidity of man. Anything built by man, can be destroyed by him.”
General George S. Patton.
Interesting
I’ll see if I can come across it one of these days
Thanks
