“President Trump has an 8th Amendment challenge to the unconstitutional fines levied against him by a rogue judge,” Constitutional Scholar Mark Levin noted Tuesday, commenting on the extraordinary $370 million fine (including interest) imposed by a New York judge.
Later that day, former President Trump posted the text of the 8th Amendment on TruthSocial.com platform, later linking to the same article linked by Levin in his comment posted on X (formerly Twitter). […]
As Levin, (Arthur) Fergenson, (Jonathan) Turley, (Steven) Calabresi and a host of other constitutional experts have noted, the fine is extraordinary not only because of its unprecedented size, but also because it punishes Trump for a fraud conviction in which no one was actually defrauded. …

Well, that depends on the definition of “newsworthy” one is using.
USC 18 Sections 241 and 242 may also come into play.
All i see is people looking for answers through and from the very system that the left has utterly destroyed.
One side continues to play the by the rules while the other does whatever the hell it wants.
Whether it’s utterly destroyed or not depends on certain people in power and certain people who think they have no power but have to realize their deception.
That judge needs to be removed from the bench and disbarred.
That’s just for starters.
More is the word that should be defined,though..
Alex Jones’ amount was $1.5 billion.

Transitory?
Bidenomics?
He said Sandy Hook was staged. Judge ruled $1.5 billion.
People think we’re free…
Fox News had Trump on a Laura Ingraham led town hall tonight, and she brought up this issue.

Looks like she’s gotta caboose that would make fani envy
Hochul also makes the case that Trump was targeted
What do you mean by that?
It’s been posted here too.
It’s what the 8th was written to prevent.
A power mad political persecution designed to strip a man of all of his property.
Our judges think that constitutional rights are things to be finessed, not enforced.
Here is the text of the amendment: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
I mean the amendment is certainly less than specific about the definition of “excessive”. That makes it more subjective and less objective.
That means it will be subject to interpretation by the robed extremists.
Certainly true.
But, no crime, no victim, no financial loss, just a $400M fine for being Trump. Seems excessive to me.
That presumes too much power has been given to the judges and instead of a republic we are allowing the operation of a kritocracy. As for the presumed excess, that certainly is a matter of the imposition being cruel and there being a right to impose such a fine when no crime has been committed; also a simple matter of arithmetic.
The state of new york was defrauded. states are people too.
