More important, children who are raised by two married parents have an advantage over those who are not.
Nothing about these factual statements should be controversial.

Why is noting married people are happier and kids do better with married parents so controversial?
For the same reason that opposing abortion or at least labeling it as killing the unborn.
As you said it is against the feminist political position.
Yep - they went after the two-parent family in black families with “The Great Society”. And doing their best with white families now (increased taxes and inflation making both parents work), supporting the LGBTQ cults, etc.
Probably what makes it most controversial though is that the majority of married parents are white. In 2015 the number of 30-34 year-old married white women was about 3 times the rate of black women.

Because of what we see every day. I know a whole lot of married men. I know very few HAPPILY married men.

When the government essentially PAYS you NOT to marry, then expect the biggest grifters to take advantage.
The most dysfunctional are less likely to marry, thus bringing down the statistical averages for the single vs. married.
But are people happy because they marry—or are happy people more likely to marry?
I don’t know, but such self-reported, population data usually can’t tease out a causal relationship.
Intact black families are a narrow slice of that population, whereas intact white families are a watered-down majority of theirs.
My wife works with a black woman who refuses to apply for promotions or accept pay raises. Why? Because it would put her over her earning requirement, and she would lose government handouts. Absolutely asinine.
I've worked with women who also refused to do more in order to avoid making more money, not because of government handouts, but because of calculations for alimony and child support.
Between women subsidized by taxpayers, ex-husbands, or unmarried fathers, there's a large portion of the workforce that are subsidized single mothers. One outcome is that it suppresses pay and compensation as employers seek these women out and then turn around and try to force men to accept the same lower wages.
Understand those situations…but this woman comes right out and says why she’s doing it. Alimony and child support have nothing to do with it.
The family creates a system of loyalty no subordinate to the state.
However if you go back in time you discover that it was happening before the 1960s when you were more likely to have intact black families. Intact black families were as or more likely to advance financially.
When the Great Society came along all the progress that had been made not only with black families but all people that were poor was reversed. Out of wedlock births, violence and STD which had been dropping suddenly started going up.
I know, even here on FR, it is not considered trendy to point out that getting married is a overall social, financial and emotional advantage but it is.
