It’s the roof of the general Lee. They’ll always be racists because of that.

I think the metaphor’s a bit tortured, yes, but racist, no

What was the racist comment? Is she or is she not trying to leave her mark on the genre and/or her career?
The fact that he references a dog makes it racist? What about a cat, would that be OK? Or a llama? Perhaps a rabbit?

Why does he hate dogs so much that he has to denigrate them?

I don’t follow her or her partner so this is the first I’ve heard she did some country.

He said they, not she. And he included a white singer in the “they” group.

It was rude. He could have compared her to Barbra Streisand making a Christmas album.

Not racist. Territorialist, Caninist, Specisist, maybe.
But Not racist.
To: nickcarraway
Not racist. But certainly douchy. Of course that’s country. It’s always been big on “don’t play this, we’ve declared it not country.”

I don’t like Beyoncé’s music, but I don’t wish to denigrate those who do. For those people who like Beyoncé’s music, “denigrate” means put down.

I agree. There are different ways he could have said the same thing. Many fans of Beyonce already specialize in playing The Victim. This controversy only seems to validate their paranoia. I recall a few years back when Carlos Santana said Beyonce is an entertainer “but not a real singer”. He was scorched on Twitter for several days before being convinced to walk that casual statement back and “clarify” things.
At first I thought I was seeing Mel Gibson’s photo, not John S. Mel has a history of making very blunt assessments about other people.
