Hochul tells NY businesses not to fear about Trump verdict: ‘Nothing to worry about’

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) addressed New York business owners in a new interview and told them there was “nothing to worry about” after former President Trump was hit with a $355 million fine and the inability to conduct business in New York for three years.

Hochul joined John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM where she was asked if other New York businesspeople should be worried that if “they can do that to the former president, they can do that to anybody.”

“I think that this is really an extraordinary unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,” Hochul responded.

A New York judge on Friday ordered Trump to pay the massive sum in penalties in a civil fraud case. The decision came just weeks after closing arguments wrapped up a months-long trial after New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) sued Trump for alleging he falsely altered his net worth to receive tax and insurance benefits.

This ruling kills NYC real estate. Instead of market deciding what YOU can ask to sell, the gov’mt can now decide

Real estate prices fluctuate wildly. During the GFC, Florida condo prices crashed by two thirds. It took a bunch of years to get prices back to pre crash levels. Commercial real estate is getting hammered right now, especially so in lawless jurisdictions..

When will a higher court look at this? The matter doesn’t even pretend to not be politically motivated. Trump should see this overturned a compensated. James should be disbarred and sued personally.

No crime was committed, no one lost money, this was a 3rd world government attacking a private citizen. Hochul is endorsing this tyrannical behavior.

NYC is a obviously place where any wise business person should NOT to do business.
***********************************************************

........”wise”????

don’t think you have to be too smart about this criminal conspiracy of the Democratic Party, Judiciary and media in New York. They are THE ENEMY of business and if your too dumb to “get” that you should be working on the loading dock not in the CEO’s office.

When the whole issue of this ruling hurting NYC business people joked that the government should just admit it was to get Trump.

People probably didn’t think NY would really come out and admit it.

.....really an extraordinary unusual circumstance

Indeed. All the way from a biased, rabid leftist prosecutor DA to a completely leftist judge who arbitrarily ruled from the bench even before the trial was completed and, IMO, actually testified on prosecution behalf by opining values of which he knew nothing about, to a final ruling that was purely political in intention. All just to keep Trump out of the Oval Office.

The inescapable conclusion, however, is that if they could do this to Trump, they will do it against anyone with whom they have political differences.

Were I a wealthy real estate investor, or even the head of a REIT that invests heavily in New York, I would begin to sell my holdings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I suspect that the behind the scenes discussions right now are all about ‘how exactly is that done?’ If everyone lists or starts the process of selling their property tomorrow, the glut on the market would drive prices through the floor....
Yes it will be a race to make sure they aren’t the last one out the door. Businesses than can relocate will. Those that can’t will be the next target when they run out of Trumps’ money.
I have a liberal family member in NY that happily posted on Facebook about the $326M and her followers glom on to it with glee. Clearly too stupid to not fully understand this case and blinded by her hatred of President Trump.
She married a guy who made a good living doing business in NY. I wonder how she would feel if the asset valuations ‘issue’ was a lawsuit against that business(and owners)?
Heck. Trump wasn’t charged with a crime. He was declared guilty of a crime by some hack judge who had the entire rulings and punishment written by the DNC.
Oh, they'll take their protection money from Republicans, too, they just have to pay 50% more as a "convenience fee."
