That the shots were 6 or 12 in number, given in the abdomen and incredibly painful to receive? Those urban legends? But were they all legend?
Thank you.
Money quote, from end of article.
“”Once symptoms develop....there is no cure, no antibiotic, no reversing agent,” Hayden said.”
Sounds like Zombie apocalypse virus details to me.
Sorry, I don’t know how to make the photo smaller other than a thumbnail.
They have a short time to find the animal and test it. Not likely they can be sure they are getting the right one. The kids will be getting shots.
I had a round of the shots in ‘67. The needles weren’t so bad, but the vaccine burned like you-know-what. Each injection left a bruised area that was real sore. After a few days, it became hard to find a place on my skinny belly that wasn’t too sore to stick. I had one month left to go on my tour of sunny Southeast Asia. Since I was the Corpsman, I gave myself the shots.
I think one of my cats got nabbed and eaten around Thanksgiving.
OMG. I’m in awe of your fortitude and determination via the self-administration.
A cat one climbed into our fenced back yard. 0500 am and still pretty dark.
Our two dogs I had just put out to go to the bathroom there immediately had it surrounded and the noises were frightening.
I ran out in the dark, in my underwear and picked up the cat to rescue it from our dogs. It promptly repaid my kindness by biting my hand thoroughly and deeply before I could finish tossing it over our fence.
I did note it appeared domesticated, healthy and had a pet collar on.
I got to work that am and they sent me to an E.D.
I was hospitalized overnight for iv antibiotics and sent home the next day with prescriptions.
They said cat bites on humans, especially into a joint are a serious matter.
I declined the offered rabies shots.
I was sure it was a neighbors pet.
I figured if i had guessed wrong, I would lose the bet with my life.
Didn’t get rabies. Winning.
Seen more than one in my part of DFW. Had one follow the Mrs. and I last Spring during a very early morning walk. It backed off after a bit, but YIKES.
I wasn’t carrying anything to fight it with, but did have my iPhone in case it wanted selfies with my corpse.
Nocturnal animals rule suburbia after dark.
Coyotes, Fischers(Fisher Cats) and Bobcats have all made a huge comeback in the last 25 years in NH. Along with turkeys , whitetails and black bears.
The predators all have become adapted to hunting in the suburbs and even in the cities.
This is because all the farms have disappeared and turned into subdivisions. Except here that means 1-5 acre lots with plenty of woods in between for the wildlife.
The problem is the liberals that are all anti hunting. IF someone in the suburbs shoots a gun anytime outside of normal fall hunting season some KAREN posts about it on Facebook.
Last summer a skunk got in the fenced area where we keep our dogs. It was about 11 pm on a Friday night. I shot it with my 16 gauge shotgun.
I texted my closest neighbor, whose house is about 500’ away just so he didn’t wonder what was going on.
Years ago coyotes were shot on site.
The drive time DJ on WEEI radio was talking about a coyote in the Seaport district of downtown Boston. This is right on Boston harbor.
Coyotes eat stray neighbor’s cats
Oh, I am so sorry. That must be hard.
Yikes.
I had heparin shots in my tummy while in the hospital a few weeks ago and everywhere I had one I bruised.
Thanks. Yep, she was a sweety...and a good hunter.
Put width=500 before your closing brace.
My daughter got rabies shots once about 20 years ago. I think there were 6, in the butt cheek. As I remember they started off with two gamaglobulin, then once a week for the remainder of the weeks. Painful because it was a big shot.
Possibly exposed at a petting zoo she had been at.
Where we live it’s one of those situations, farmland with neighborhoods and large lots built next to them. The wildlife abounds around here. We are allowed to shoot coyotes in our property without a permit. Nearly everyone I know in this neighborhood has a gun. Every so often, you hear a gunshot out there. Nobody is alarmed, thank goodness.
