A Pittsburgh Public Schools student is facing criminal charges after police say he assaulted at least four teachers or staff members at his school.
Qvawn Rembert-Leonard, 18, was charged Tuesday with four felony counts of aggravated assault after allegedly going on a violent rampage against the staff inside his school, Oliver Citywide Academy Satellite at Greenway in Crafton Heights.
According to the criminal complaint, Rembert-Leonard was talking on the phone in school about cocaine and fentanyl on Jan. 30.
When a female staff member asked him to stop, the complaint states, “He turned in rage, grabbed and threw [her] across the room.”
Rembert-Leonard is also accused of pushing a male staff member, wrestling another male employee to the ground and choking him, and swinging at a third.
Then, according to the police report, a female employee told investigators, “I went to the cabinet to retrieve his phone, he came toward me and punched me in the mouth and took his phone.”
Rembert-Leonard has not yet been taken into police custody.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
“Rembert-Leonard has not yet been taken into police custody.”
Chain gang.
Rembert-Leonard has not yet been taken into police custody....................
There’s no picture of the perp so I can’t make any guesses.................
Black Lives Matter
Qvawen ….. not Irish. A bar sinister in the name indicates (by tradition) a person of bastardly decent.
Emulating an egocentric rapper hero, no doubt.
“No Limits”
> Oliver Citywide Academy <
There are two kinds of public school academies. A “traditional academy” teaches the classics, and has high standards. There’s a dress code. Students usually have to apply to get in.
But without the word “traditional”, you’ve got a school that is a dumping ground for kids with severe emotional and behavioral problems. Woe to the teacher who is assigned to work there.
There are few public school traditional academics left, at least in the cities. Too many complaints about the strictness of the student code of conduct. Too many complaints about the lack of diversity.
Qvawn Rembert...he’s just an academician at the academy. Nothing to see here.
Is it them, Yogi?
Qvawn Rembert...most likely studying to be United’s next airline pilot.
DEI = DIE
Not Yogi, but I’ll take a stab-Yes!
Qvawn Rembert-Leonard assaulted only four people, that's not worth mentioning.
Now, if his name was Ling Chow we'd need a SWAT response.
The Pittsburgh Public School district has been losing students for decades (as has the City herself). People that can afford private schooling take their kids out, or just move out of the City.
There are two ‘tells’ in the story. First the name of the school: Oliver Citywide Academy.
When a public school has the world ‘Academy’ in its name, especially if it has recently received the name, watch out. The forlorn hope is that by giving a school a fancy-sounding name, it will improve results. It doesn’t.
And then there’s ‘Qvawn’. No more needs to be said. But I’m willing to bet that this isn’t the first time that Qvawn has gotten himself in trouble. I’ll also bet that he has an IEP that has kept him from being punished for misbehavior in the past.
The IEP won’t protect him against criminal charges. I’m a little surprised that the staff are pressing charges. Usually there is pressure to ‘keep it inside the school’.
Qvawn needs to be tried, convicted and incarcerated for at least ten years. He isn’t fixable at this point. He is a danger to society.
No doubt Qvawn's parents will give him a good talking-to at the dinner table.
