Swiss police have opened an investigation into a ski hire shop's announcement it would no longer rent skis and sledges to Jewish customers.
The shop, in the famous resort of Davos, has now reversed its decision. It has taken down the signs, translated into Hebrew, which informed customers of the ban. But many have argued the case is a clear violation of Switzerland's laws against discrimination and incitement to racial or religious hatred. The Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities has launched its own legal action, condemning the signs as clearly discriminatory. You might be on to something there.
And as a side note, a store near me hired an Arab manager about six months ago. I was in the store the other day. Most of the employees are now Arab. That kinda surprised me, given that I live in an old rust-belt mill town.
As Bob Dylan noted, the times they are a-changin’.
Just because the Nazis were defeated in 1945 doesn’t mean the Antisemitism went away at the same time.
There was plenty left over to start a new crop..............
The “our Jewish brothers” certainly sounds like a typical Arab insult of Jews.
Goes back to Issac and Ishmael.
The saying in France before the war was “Better Hitler than Blum”, referring to Leon Blum the then French Socialist Prime Minister, who was also Jewish.
I fear you may be right…
