Two New York state Democrats are taking aim at Mayor Eric Adams’ limits on how long migrants can stay in city shelters.
Manhattan state Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Queens Assemblymember Catalina Cruz introduced legislation to scrap the “cruel” city-imposed caps on shelter stays.
“The current shelter time limit policies are not only inhumane but counterproductive, thrusting families into further uncertainty and distress,” Cruz said in a statement Monday.
Under current Adams administration policy, single adults residing at city-run shelters must reapply for permission to stay every 30 days. Families must reapply every 60 days.

Their uncertainty and distress is caused by the fact that they broke the law to get here-hopefully, they are worried about being deported. Better yet, let every politician who wants these mojados to stay there take a family of them into their own home for an indefinite period of time-and provide meals for them, too, so they are not uncertain or distressed...
It’s a total mess and there will be no winners from Biden’s border policy. I could see where if you gave someone a helping hand for 30 or 60 days, just to give them time to settle in and find a job and a place to live. But these immigrants don’t have work permits, probably no credit history or bank account, can’t get a job and can’t even pay the rental application fee let alone get or afford an apartment in NYC.
And if they did get work permits and visas, you’d have even more competition for cheap labor which would drive working class Americans and green card holders into even more despair.
It’s FUBARed every way you look at it.
Maybe demented by our standards, but models of rationality by Democrat standards. I have strongly suspected that Democrats live partially in a different universe where logic as we know it isn’t present and physical reality can be changed by government fiat. A universe where unlimited electricity comes from wall sockets, a universe where value/wealth can be created by government printing presses, a universe where disarming the law abiding makes them safer, etc. Now normally I think that this only holds for democrat voters (most of whom seem about 25 IQ points shy of average) and that Democrat politicians only cynically go along with this nonsense to gain power and control over the masses, but the occasionally one of the true believers gets elected.

If they are worried about “disruptions” in the lives of these freeloading criminal invaders, then tell the perps to STAY HOME, where there will be no disruptions. They can hardly find time as it is to look up from stuffing their fat faces on food that WE pay for, watching TV that WE provide, screwing each other all day and all night in rooms that WE pay for, and committing various crimes that cost US money.
Is there a legal or economic cost to Gov. Abbott to help vulnerable refugee asylum illegals to establish themselves in awesomely well off Rehoboth, Martha’s and Georgetown?
Seems to me that is where most unfortunate new arrivals should be sent , ESPecially DC.
