In his much-awaited interview with Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned President Joe Biden, spoke about past Democrat presidents and the CIA, while praising George W. Bush and gushing over the “very smart” Elon Musk.

Shortly before six o’clock on Thursday evening, the two-hour interview was made available on the Tucker Carlson Network, Carlson’s official website, as well as on X (Twitter).

“Are we having a talk show or a serious interview?” Putin said, in response to a query on the conflict in Ukraine, speaking via a translator.

Before justifying his military’s actions, he gave Carlson the “historical background” of the Ukraine-Russia war.

Some of Putin’s claims included:

Bill Clinton offered Russia a place in NATO, but was overruled by his staff Russia has superior “supersonic missiles” to every other nation Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich was a “spy” The CIA blew up the Nord Stream Pipeline

Putin was logical and calm. He answered all questions put to him.
I don't think Biden could last that long in an interview without wandering away.

Did Putin mention anything about dying all those times the last few years?

The first hour was a boring history lesson that should have taken ten minutes.

Note that at no time does Putin mention Obama or Hillary or their “great reset” meeting which failed and then Obama ran the Ukrainian coup… nor does Putin recall having any discussions with Biden - who blackmailed the Ukrainian government.

he mentions chatting with other presidents and White House officials… but from 2008-2016 he only refers to the actions of the “CIA”…

Something is rotten in Denmark…

It was a great interview.

It was well worth the time to watch as it allowed me to understand Putin’s thoughts.

Much of it in the beginning was a history lesson on Russia. I await the fact checkers to sort fact from fiction.

He spoke well of Trump.

Putin blamed the CIA and the constant lies from USA. He trusts USA treaties about as much as the Native Americans trusted our government..

In the end, Tucker asked for the release of the WSJ reporter. Putin said, “It is in the works.”

As a fan of history I found it interesting. To each his own I guess.

Why is Ukraine the West’s Fault? Featuring John Mearsheimer

UnCommon Core: The Causes and Consequences of the Ukraine Crisis

John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago, assesses the causes of the present Ukraine crisis, the best way to end it, and its consequences for all of the main actors. A key assumption is that in order to come up with the optimum plan for ending the crisis, it is essential to know what caused the crisis. Regarding the all-important question of causes, the key issue is whether Russia or the West bears primary responsibility.

Agreed. I understand why—to frame the current situation, but an American audience is going to view it as a European problem.

What is telling is the overreaction, including the EU threatening sanctions.

The bit about Nordstream was pretty much a rehash of what has been suspected.

I have some regard for Carlson but I am not going to carve out two complete hours to watch Putin lecture the world in justification of the Russian screed. He is articulate, smart and charming but he is a Russian and Communist to the core. Russians like him are a bundle of intrigue and paranoia.

Russia deciding to send cruise missiles to attack our congressional delegation that just arrived in Kyiv today is not very smart.

Putin is more trustworthy than Joe Biden and 90% of the people in leadership positions of the U.S. government.

White House Communications Coordinator John Kirby warned ...

“Anybody that watches that interview you need to make sure to remember that you are listening to Vladimir Putin,” Kirby said. “You shouldn’t take at face value anything he has to say.”

Well duh. Those words apply to Obama, Hillary, Biden and Zelensky as well.

It always pays to listen to people. When it comes to Israel and Gaza, Putin is as wrong as Obama and Biden.

Democrats are usually the ones who want to limit what you and I can say and hear.

This is right…

PUTIN:

“Do the United States need this? What for? Thousands of miles away from your national territory. Don’t you have anything better to do?

You have issues on the border. Issues with migration. Issues with the national debt. More than 33 trillion dollars. You have nothing better to do, so you should fight with Ukraine?

Wouldn’t it be better to negotiate with Russia?”

Putin is correct. The US should be concerned with our own issues and not funding wars on the other side of the planet. Sounds kind of like “America First”.
