NYC note to Eric Adams: You’re not criticized because you’re ‘chocolate’ or ‘Jesus’
NY Post ^ | 7 Feb 2024 | Bob McManus

Posted on 02/07/2024 5:20:49 PM PST by Rummyfan

Mayor Adams says nobody likes him, and the polls suggest he’s close to correct.

An African-American, he blames race — but maybe it’s really because nobody likes a whiner.

Especially an unfocused whiner.

You know, like a mayor who flits like a firefly from one crisis to the next, a fellow who talks a good game but who — after 25 months in office — has yet to demonstrate that he’s truly up to what often is described as the second-toughest job in America.

Certainly Adams has yet to establish a core theme for his mayoralty.

He reacts — but there is scant coherence, and certainly no benchmarks against which to judge progress.

Rudy Giuliani was the self-styled crime fighter. Mike Bloomberg had wonky competence.

Even empty-suit Bill de Blasio embraced “progressivism” and that worked — at least until people caught on.

Eric Adams has . . . what?

People wonder — and worry.

Obviously that recent Quinnipiac University poll — Adams got a 28-58 percent negativity rating, the worst ever — is weighing heavily.

Sharks are circling — Andrew Cuomo and former city comptroller Scott Stringer among them — and that shouldn’t surprise. Blood in the water attracts them.

They’re in it for the title and the perks, nothing more.

The funny thing is, he originally got elected as a law and order candidate.

American blacks complain all the time that nobody takes them

seriously; then when given a chance they fail and fail and

let every race down!

Eric Adams is Marshal Dillon compared to the city council. While not my favorite Mayor, his hands are tied by the city council that actually controls to purse strings and who refuse to repeal sanctuary city. The lunkheads at the Post need to realize that the mayor can’t by law be a dictator.

Well, he’s black. That’s all you need to be the mayor of ANY large US city.

He didn’t want to be the mayor, he wanted to be a celebrity.

i strongly object to mayor adams’ culturally expropriating the olmec culture’s sacred food, chocolate. mayor adams needs to confront, admit, and apologize his unconscious racism! btw i’m part latin american latino, and i am waiting for my reparations from adams and any other big politicians, DAs and judges who claim to be chocolate. so mayor adams— gimme sum dat! /s /s /s

Mayor Adams says nobody likes him, and his abysmal polls suggest he’s right.
He blames race, natch — but he should consider, nobody likes a whiner.....or a liar.

BACKSTORY:When he got into the mayoral race, he needed big money. So he went to Wall Street — told the moneymen he was a “different” candidate — told them they had nothing to worry about by backing him.

So they forked over——got the guy elected.

That was then. Ask his backers now-—they’ll tell you——
Adams has to be the biggest liar they’ve ever encountered——
and Wall Street has encountered the best of the best.

Anyone willing to hazard a guess as to what a 28-58 percent negativity rating means?

But hats off to Bob McManus for his correct use of the em dash.

I think the answer is that old thing about “they wanted to be fooled.”

Eric Adams has . . . what?

Remember what his original motivation was: He wanted more black police. That was why he joined the police force in the first place.

If the numbers were too skewed, perhaps he was correct, but the problem is that it is probably too narrow a focus for the mayor of a huge, complicated city.

I'm sure his outlook has broadened of course.

His recent actions are proving that. He has gone to DC many more times than I realized to try to stop the overwhelming influx of people, and he has also stood firm on solitary confinement and other issues if I'm not mistaken.

He is not being given credit for what he has tried to do, but the problems are too huge. We need a more conservative outlook from the city council, and how we will get that I can't imagine, because the voters don't look carefully enough at whom they are voting for for city council. Also the candidates don't always tell us ahead of time how radical they are.

RE: Mayor Adams says nobody likes him....

Old George Carlin routine on 1972 album.
(Take off of Listerine mouthwash ad)

Salesman to friend: “I don’t know what it is. I just can’t seem to get close enough to make the sale these days.”
Friend: “Maybe you should try Listerine. It kills germs.”
Salesman: “But if you’re saying I need it for my breath what do germs have to do with it?”
Friend: “Germs are the ones that have bad breath. We’re okay but we need Listerine to kill the bad breath by killing the germs.”’
