Russians opposed to Vladimir Putin for years have been inspired by telegenic anti-corruption campaigners willing to risk their freedom and even their lives to expose the Kremlin’s crimes.
Now, after two years of war and with most opposition figures either in jail, in exile or dead, they have been left with Boris Nadezhdin. Asked by a reporter on Wednesday whether Putin considered Nadezhdin a political threat, the president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “We do not consider him a rival. Not at all.”
Yet political analysts said it was unlikely the Kremlin would allow Nadezhdin’s popularity to progress too far. Authorities could refuse to put him on the ballot, by deeming some of his signatures invalid, they said, or find some other means to influence him, such as the threat of prison.

“Slutsky” sounds like a sex scandal just waiting to happen ...
Did you know his wife and mother were Slutskys (or Slutskayas), too?
LDPR deputy and chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky found himself at the center of a scandal after three journalists - deputy editor-in-chief of the RTVI television channel Ekaterina Kotrikadze, producer of the Dozhd television channel Daria Zhuk and correspondent of the BBC Russian Service Farida Rustamova accused him of sexual harassment. Slutsky himself denies guilt.
The Duma Ethics Commission, having heard Rustamova and Zhuk, did not find “behavioral violations in Mr. Slutsky,” advising the journalists to contact law enforcement agencies. After the decision of the Duma ethics commission, RBC and subsequently more than a dozen media outlets in various forms announced a boycott of the State Duma.

We are preparing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court.
It will be very large. We will try to submit it as soon as possible. The law allows you to do this within 10 days from the date of refusal, that is, no later than February 18.
We will appeal the CEC’s refusal to register me, as well as the laws and acts of the CEC on the basis of which it was issued. In particular, the norms of the Federal Law on the basic guarantees of electoral rights, the norms of the Federal Law on the election of the President of the Russian Federation, and the CEC Resolutions governing the verification of signatures regulate the collection and verification of signatures.
The Supreme Court considers the claim within 5 days, in especially complex cases - up to 10 days. In case of a negative decision of the Supreme Court, we will appeal to the Constitutional Court.
The CEC is unlikely to reverse its decision. The Russian Ministry of Justice included the Russian Election Monitor, a European non-governmental organization (NGO) that publishes expert analyses on Russian elections and observations from independent civilian election observers in Russia, on the list of “undesirable” NGOs in Russia.[12] Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev justified the “undesirable” designation, claiming that a group of unnamed Polish, French, and German “Russophobe” politicians formed the Russian Election Monitor to “prepare foreign audiences to recognize the presidential elections in Russia as illegitimate.”[13]

On February 15, open hearings will be held to consider my claims in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court accepted both claims we filed for its proceedings and set dates for court hearings.
The first claim - challenging the form of the list of collectors for excessive requirements according to the region - will be considered on February 15 at 10:00 (case No. AKPI24-116, judge Nefedov).
The second claim - to challenge the form of the statement of verification of signature sheets for the absence of the conclusions of a handwriting expert - will be considered on February 15 at 14:00 (case No. AKPI24-117, judge Kirillov).
Court hearings are open. Media editorial offices can receive one-time accreditation to participate in meetings. It will be possible to be present in the court building without it.
The third lawsuit, to challenge the refusal to register, is scheduled to be filed by the end of this week.
My guess is that he will lose in court on Thursday. What do you think?
Take me off your list and gfy.
Yup… Ruzzia is toast now that we’re going to send another $60 billion to Ukraine because the first $200 billion wasn’t enough!
Frankly I’m more concerned with how Biden is trying to throw Trump in court while supplying Ukraine.
What say you?
Its like Trump asking a Washington DC court to put him on the ballot a snowballs chance in Hell.
Solovyov publically thanks Boris Nadezhdin for collecting the personal information of people who oppose Putin and giving it to ‘the competent services to be studied’.

The Supreme Court rejected two claims by ex-presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin.
Both of these claims, as experts noted, were not initially intended to be satisfied and were written to be transferred to the Constitutional Court. At the same time, the main claim – the actual denial of registration – has not yet been filed; previously the deadline was February 16.
In one of the lawsuits, Nadezhdin challenged the Central Election Commission’s instructions on verifying signatures, namely paragraph 4.2.1, which does not imply the presence of expert explanations for what reasons a particular signature was recognized as invalid. The inspection protocol contains only violation codes without any justification for why the expert considers this signature invalid, Nadezhdin writes in his lawsuit.
At the court hearing, a representative of the Central Election Commission said that a statement with a list of invalid signatures was signed by a handwriting expert based on his conclusion. However, due to the absence of this conclusion in the refusal to Nadezhdin, the Central Election Commission considers the statement itself to be such.
Nadezhdin also asked the court to invalidate the form of the statement of verification of signature sheets, since it does not provide space for the reasoning opinions of experts, on the basis of which this or that signature was rejected.
In the second lawsuit, Nadezhdin challenged the form of the list of collectors, which requires indicating in which region the collector was collecting signatures. Nadezhdin considered such a requirement not based on the law. Both claims were not satisfied by the court.
I miss Boris Nemtsov. We managed to do a lot together (you can read about our work on my website). Russia would be a different country if Boris Efimovich had been elected President.
Nemtsov’s mother, Dina Yakovlevna, died yesterday. She outlived her son by 9 years. I wish strength and health to the family of Boris Efimovich. We will continue his fight for a country that loves people, not power.

Boris Nemtsov was assassinated in central Moscow on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge at 23:31 local time on 27 February 2015:

News about the death of Alexei Navalny appeared today on the websites of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The editors of my headquarters contacted both departments - the first answered that “the information is being double-checked,” the second fell silent after the question, and a little later hung up.
Alexey’s lawyers and supporters have not yet released any additional information. We only know that the lawyer flew to Kharp, where the colony is located. We are waiting for confirmed information. I pray that the information turns out to be untrue. Alexey is one of the most talented and courageous people I have known in Russia.
Nadezhdin:
The family of Alexei Navalny received confirmation of his death.
Alexei’s mother, Lyudmila Ivanovna, was given an official notification of her son’s death today. According to him, Alexey died in Kharp on February 16 at 14:17 local time. Condolences to the parents, Yulia, and children. Hang in there.
Nemtsov. Now Navalny. A huge loss for all of us. It was not possible to save Alexey. Now people all over Russia and the world are paralyzed by the pain of his loss, and it seems that the dream of a free Russia has dissipated. But that’s not true. I will do everything to realize the aspirations of Alexey and millions of citizens of our country.
Russia will be peaceful and free!

Let us recall that earlier the Supreme Court rejected Nadezhdin's two claims in which the ex-candidate appealed the documents and instructions of the Central Election Commission when checking signatures.
The meeting is scheduled for 10:00 on February 21.
Nadezhdin: My claim to challenge the refusal to register will be considered on February 21 in the Supreme Court.
We filed our main claim on Friday, February 16. I will defend your signatures, which were rejected due to minor inconsistencies in the passport and the Ministry of Internal Affairs certificate, according to the conclusion of a handwriting expert.
The CEC also did not notify me and the party representatives about the verification of signature sheets, and the working group did not invite me to participate.
Over the past week, we have been contacting thousands of people all over Russia to help us prove that the signatures were left by living people, and they must be recognized as valid!
We will invite the court to call as witnesses citizens whose signatures and data were indicated absolutely correctly, but the Central Election Commission declared them invalid.

Nadezhdin: The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused to satisfy my claim to challenge the refusal to register.
I will appeal the decision within 5 days. On February 26, the Court will consider appeals on the first two claims at 11:00 and 13:30.
Support our fight in the Supreme Court - I will not accept failure.
