What an excellent explanation of Putin’s so-called peace negotiations. Keep Ukraine, NATO, EU, USA all talking or hoping while organizing and putting all the military assets in place ready for the NOT WAR soon to be launched.

Ukraine will join NATO and the EU with its 1991 borders intact.

The war was never about Ukraine joining NATO; it was all about Russia taking the most valuable parts of Ukraine for itself (i.e., conquest and absorption).

Gaffer: "April Glaspie might disagree..."

And what, exactly, was April Glaspie guilty of?

It's that in July 1990 she failed to war Saddam Hussein in strong enough language that if he invaded Kuwait, it would mean the death of him and his regime, along with eventual subservience of Suni Iraq to Shiite Iran.

Glaspie herself claims that she did warn Saddam, though in diplomatically nice language since, "We foolishly did not realize he [Saddam] was stupid.".

I don't think Vlad the Invader is stupid, but rather is acting according to his plans and calculations regarding the weakness of Ukraine and the West generally, the USA's leadership specifically.

I’m sure it feels great to defend her, especially because of the relevancy here, but there plenty of people out there that say she plain outright screwed up. She was a DIPLOMAT, one who is charged with knowing her contemporaries, presenting clear, concise language to their foreign counterparts. She should have stayed in British Columbia from where she came.

Huge change! If true.

I don’t know how true this is, but this “war” will end at such time as everybody involved can claim a “victory” of sorts. Resistance to funding Ukraine is getting to the point where it’s becoming a political problem for it’s supporters, and while there’s been big money made on the war, the really big money will come afterward. The printing presses in Washington and Brussels are probably being lubricated as we speak. Dreams of the hundreds of $billions to be pilfered are dancing in their heads. After 2 years of destruction, just imagine the funds needed to rebuild! The defense establishment got their share first, now it’s everyone elses turn. Of course the politicians get theirs all the time.

I'm certainly not defending April Glaspie because she made the same basic mistake that Americans have often made, another notorious example being Pres. Truman's Secretary of State, Dean Acheson, in January 1950 -- when he made a speech listing Asian countries the US would defend while leaving out Korea.
The NoKo's, ChiComs and Old Uncle Joe Stalin all took Acheson's speech as a "green light" to invade South Korea, which they did in June 1950.

And there are other similar examples, none of which compare to the alleged "coup" in Ukraine in 2014.

Dean Acheson's 1950 US defense line which provoked North Korea's invasion of South Korea, June 1950:

No need to get too excited, since most of Ukraine's reconstruction will be paid for out of circa $300 billion in Vlad the Invader's private checking accounts said to now be frozen in western banks.
After Vlad is convicted as a war criminal, his checking accounts and yachts can be confiscated to pay for Ukraine reconstruction and reparations.

Of course, a mere $300 billion is not enough, but it's a good start and will likely need a Russian oblast or two transferred to Ukraine to mark Russia's debts for Vlad's invasions as "paid in full".

Some of Vlad the Invader's yachts in western ports.
There are said to be ten in total:
